You've got to feel for Rachel...the memos released AS she is interviewing Comey...

Talk about bad timing. Not only did she not have time to read them, it seems that the knowledge of their release kind of kept Comey even more "buttoned up" than usual. Maybe he didn't want to say anything that contradicted them.

Anyway, he wasn't a very good interviewee, but it wasn't Rachel's fault.

Edited to add that I thought it was over, but it's not. So maybe it will improve?

I saw him on The View (yesterday??) -- and he was relaxed, looked great and was much more open and talkative. I don't think Rachel is doing that well, myself. It seems like she's interrogating him. But I haven't been paying the best attention.

but he does seem robotic. It also occurred to me that he might be "on guard" because Rachel is seen as far left. I agree that once her technique is seen to not work, it would be better to adapt.

I think progressives, including Rachel, might be on edge because it seems like the investigation is slowly closing in, but Trump, unstable as he is, could try to sabotage it by firing Rosenstein and ultimately Mueller. Or do something else off the grid. Rachel has been following this investigation for so long, it must all be very intense and personal for her.

even when they talk about things that might be provocative.

I bet he tells his friends to decline her interviews because she is so thorough.

I've been impressed with him so far, and I don't think that's an issue with him. As I said, I watched him on The View, and he handled some rough questions there with aplomb. I really just think he's tired. It's been a whirlwind of interviews.

The release was timed. So Ms R could/would alter questions and try to trap Director Comey as relates to his memo notes.

and held off on the Memos until near the end. She must have had plenty of topics from what he wrote in his book and other news articles.

Rachel was clearly flustered and kept shuffling through the printout of Comey's Memo papers like she was searching for something to challenge him with. She should have asked him some broad, open ended questions on his memos and just let him talk about what he thought was important. Instead she kept inserting herself into the interview and cutting him off and she made the interview look choppy and contentious.
