<After an investigation by police in Illinois and the FBI, authorities removed four guns from 29-year-old Travis Reinkings home and gave them to his father.

(12,417 posts)there should be no leniency for any crimes involving firearms.
The only way to begin to reverse the gun culture of the US is to make it toxic and legally risky to be around guns.

UPDATE 5 PM: The Tazewell County Sheriff's Office has released several redacted incident reports about past interactions with Waffle House quadruple murder suspect Travis Reinking.
The former Morton man had several run-ins with police over the past several years. In May 2016, police responded to the CVS parking lot in Morton, where Reinking was in his vehicle allegedly having delusions about singer Taylor Swift harassing him, stalking him and hacking his phone. The delusions had allegedly gone on since August of 2014. His family was also at the parking lot and feared for his safety because he had made comments about killing himself earlier in the day.
Officers tried to convince Reinking to seek help at UnityPoint Health-Methodist, and told him he could not leave the scene because he was in protective custody due to suicidal comments he made. Reinking allegedly attempted to leave again before he was made to go to Methodist.
About a month later, police were called to the Tremont Pool, where Reinking reportedly "barged into the pool" wearing a pink woman's house coat. The man then took off his coat and swam in the pool in his underwear, according to a police report. He was told to get out of the pool by the lifeguards, and allegedly tried to get the lifeguards to fight him.
