... We should be able to eat our waffles in peace. We should be able to send our kids to school without worrying that theyll be gunned down. We should be able to go to church and not wonder whether an AR-15-toting person who fell through the mental-health-services cracks might stand up and open fire ...
Were told by the National Rifle Association and the politicians they fund that the only defense in any of these tragedies would be more guns. Armed teachers. Armed churchgoers. Armed music lovers. Armed waffle eaters.
They tell us mental health care is key, but do they increase funding for mental health care? No. Do they tighten gun laws to keep firearms out of the hands of the mentally ill? No. In fact, President Donald Trumps only action on guns was signing a law last February that did away with a regulation President Barack Obama put in place that made it harder for people with mental illness to buy a gun ...
... there are two kind of terrorism, one the Trump administration and the gun lobby will pounce on to stoke fear and another they will ignore so as not to lose donors or damage business ...

(82,849 posts)By golly, if Americans aren't willing to lay down their lives on the altar of the High Church of Redemptive Violence, what has become of our beloved country? Real Americans are prepared to be gunned down anywhere: in the street, in the tavern, at the shooting range, in a restaurant, at school. We know that death is the price to be paid for freedom. Well, some people's deaths. Not mine, you understand. But others.

(31,261 posts)Are going to cry about all the precious rights that they have already given up. What about the rights of six and seven year old kids that got slaughtered by a psycho? How about the rights of every school kid who has to know the quickest, safest exit in case of gunfire? How about the rights of parents that send their kids off to school or a movie not realizing the hug they gave that child will be the last one they will give? Damned gunner's rights, I have had enough of their whining bullshit.
