(41,174 posts)in coastal areas. There's much about reinforcing and improving modest coastal properties in the face of climate disasters in order to comply with local codes and insurance. The lower income folks who live in these properties now can hardly afford those costs and will be priced out with few places to relocate. Thus the coasts will be mostly inhabited by the rich. That's what I got out of it anyway.

(25,902 posts)to at the very least not lose money. Most of them will do so soon enough to profit, leaving less savvy (less rich) people holding the bag.
Too bad, because the understanding of what's going to happen is not at all secret at this point, but most people are idiots and won't figure this out.
I recently read The Water Will Come by Jeff Goodell, about sea level rising. Quite illuminating.
As for those of us who live away from the shorelines, I can highly recommend Cadillac Desert by Marc Reisner, which though originally published in 1993 is still totally relevant, and A Great Aridness by William DuBuys. Both are stunning.
