You know who has the biggest problem with "identity politics"? Conservatives.

And it's way worse than you would think. Yes racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, and transphobia are huge problems in this country that have only been made worse by the internet and social media. Which is why we need identity politics and why we need political correctness.

But you know who has a bigger problem with this than we do? And they won't admit it. It's conservatives. They want to be able to say all the crap that they can't say now. They can't stand it if someone has a sexual identity other than straight male or female. They can't stand it if someone happens to have a skin color other than white. It drives them absolutely ballistic.

And you want proof? Watch some of what used to pass for comedy back in the 60s and 70s with the Dean Martin celebrity roasts, or some of the old Looney Tunes cartoons. Today this shit would never fly. And a good majority of it is absolutely cringe worthy. But conservatives love it. And look at what passes for conservative comedy today - like Larry The Cable Guy. Some of his comedy is extremely cringe worthy.

What I'm getting at is look at the recent controversy over the use of the character Apu on the Simpsons. Is Apu an offensive sterotype? Yes. Should he be a better written character and an example for Indian - Americans to follow? Absolutely. But I bring this up because I saw a point made on Twitter that this wasn't a problem until now because of identity politics. But the thing is the identity politics game has been played out for a long time.

The thing is the other side will *NEVER* admit that they are playing the game of identity politics. But they are. They want to be able to say the most offensive shit known to man as a way of "triggering us". But they are just as easily triggered. Want proof of this? Look at what they did to Colin Kaepernick over his use of kneeling protests during the national anthem. Kaepernick "triggered" the nationalists in a way they've never been triggered before. They utterly destroyed him because they identify so strongly with being a conservative American that they can't handle it any other way.

Look at one of their favorite pitchmen - Milo Yiannopolous. He says the most offensive shit known to man because he wants to "trigger" us. He recently had a lecture series titled "10 Things I Hate About Mexico". Just that mere sentence alone is playing identity politics - he's identifying as being a white male while unleashing hate toward another country because he identifies strongly with this culture.

But if we fight back they are the ones who are running toward their safe spaces when they don't get the message that nobody wants to hear out in the open. The thing is conservatives will never admit that they're playing identity politics. In fact they play this game just as well if not better than we do. The only difference is - we're trying to incorporate many different cultures, genders, and ideologies. They incorporate just one. And if you don't identify with that one, they will tar and feather you and run you out of town faster than you can say the word "triggered". Just ask Colin Kaepernick.
