Looks like Bolton is cleaning house at Nat'l Security Council.

New -- Senior admin official: New Nat Sec Adv John Bolton sent memo to NSC employees this morning ordering immediate restructuring of staff there. According to official there was "no advance notice given to affected employees" and "no advice sought." More departures expected.

NSC spox statement on Bolton memo: "Today Ambassador Bolton announced initial steps to streamline the organizational structure of the National Security Council staff. This action is designed to improve efficiency and accountability, empower NSC staff, and reduce bureaucracy."

These career folks are just going to be ok with that in the long run? Career folks are just that, they served their way up to their levels. I'd be pissed.

The position of ambassador must sound more impressive to Bolton than just being the National Security Advisor. Who wants to be called an advisor when you can be an ambassador?
