That incident, of course, is in the past and Joy shouldn't be subjected to regurgitating it... that's not fair. Furthermore, those past comments were fairly mild in comparison to the new ones that Joy says were hacked.

Nothing I've seen since then contradicts what you're saying... no doubt the LGBTQ+ community would have been all over it had there been anything offensive.

Everyone stumbles occasionally and no one is perfect. When you realize you have said or done something insensitive you apologize and move on.

And folks don't get to come back 10-15 years later and try to dig up your insensitive comments and use them against you!

Egad, that sounds creepy.

Somebody found some blog posts supposedly made by Joy in 2006, back when she was a blogger and sometime radio host. Said blog posts were homophobic.

Joan Walsh had been promoting Joy and remembered nothing of the sort, further saying that she would not have promoted a blogger who posted things like that. Supporting this is that there are lots of reader responses to every topic that Joy posted - except the homophobic ones.

Enter the ones who do their best to keep the Bernie wars alive (disclaimer: I supported Bernie, caucused for him in spite of being sore and bruised from falling down stairs a day or two before the NV caucus and I happily voted for HRC in the November election). Their argument was that Joy insulted Bernie, his wife, there was a nasty back & forth late last November. Bernie bros are said to have been plotting for the last 5 months to destroy Joy and found the 12 year old blog posts. Others have said that the archived posts had been tampered with while even more others imply that such a thing is impossible.

There are threads of people going back and forth, bickering, arguing, and I was in on it earlier.

I think that most of this is a combination of fighting against various forms of bigotry, rehashing old grudges of who spoiled what during the election, and the usual wedge driving us apart. Egging it all on are the ones who enjoy sniping and applying purity tests. I now have several new names for my list of "questionable" posters.
