I don't see any evidence of the WSJ report though. Is this fake news?

How is this not selling your office? A clear direct quid pro quo. The amazing thing is that they are so dumb as to think that it would work. An obviously unqualified candidate is nominated without the normal vetting process. He took an action in his official government capacity to aid the President who nominated him.

You can look at Trump and tell he is obese. And with his awful diet you just know his blood pressure is high, his cholesterol is high, his triglycerides are high and he is probably prediabetic.

With blood pressure that high it is really not good for him to be in a constant state of fury.

He could drop dead.

Does he seem like he wants to lead the V.A.? Has he talked about V.A. issues, or solutions? Or budget?

He doesn't like being smeared, or exposed, whichever applies. But I don't think he's really interested in running a big government department.

No, he lied to please the president, because he likes the prestige of the current job, and it's a pretty easy job. It's not like he has to actually work.

According to the reporting I've heard, Jackson has developed a reputation as a man who "kisses up and shits down." He is ingratiating and congenial with those he considers his superiors, while treating subordinates poorly.

This explains how he managed to advance so far in The Navy without ever holding a major command.

He is apparently very competent as a doctor, and something of a "go-getter." Very ambitious. He was a diving medical officer, which is not joke, and did well in his education and internships.

I'm guessing his time on detachments led to the "what happens on det, stays on det" attitude.

His issue seems to be ambition and he is a poor commander.

Trump probably did get 30 out of 30, but if so, it was obviously because he had memorized the answers of the standardized test beforehand, and Jackson would have either known that before the test or realized it after seeing the result. (The test presumably wasn't designed to frustrate cheaters because one can normally assume the subject really wants to know the truth.)

Now, unless the Trump administration is putting words in his mouth, Jackson is denying the overwhelming pile of allegations:

“Unfortunately, because of how Washington works, these false allegations have become a distraction for this president and the important issue we must be addressing — how we give the best care to our nation’s heroes,” Dr. Jackson said in a statement provided by the White House press office.

Trump likes Jackson because he has no more regard for truth than Trump has. Too bad for Trump that Jackson is just as likely to lie to Trump as he is to lie to everyone else.
