General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIn the past I have said things that were wrong and am now ashamed of...
So I sympathize to a degree when people bring up things that were (may have been) said decades ago.
I am not calling for heads to roll, jobs to be lost or even apologies. Especially when the words are shrouded in murky waters.
What I would like to see is a direct Statement from Joy that the words were wrong unacceptable and she doesn't agree with them. That's all, issue over as far as I'm concerned.
If she has great, issue over. If she hasn't, perhaps she agrees with them. That would make her an unreliable ally in my mind and not at all a friend. Still, being a single drop in a large ocean my opinion about her is of little concern and shouldn't trouble your sleep.
Carry on your war.

(7,432 posts)Jeez. The woman's doing well at making a living for herself by using her talents. She deserves to be where she is.

(24,122 posts)that these newly uncovered comments are NOT hers, that her blog was hacked. As long as Joy is not lying about that, and I've seen no evidence to date that she is, she'll be fine... this will all blow over.

(2,380 posts)One of the most recent, and apparently most damning, screenshots tweeted from @Jamie_Maz includes this statement.
most straight people cringe at the sight of two men kissing and adult gay men tend to be attracted to very young, post-pubescent types.
I realize the climate has changed, but IS this homophobic? Indelicate maybe, but It just seems to be a fact to me. I don't know the context but can't see how that would make any difference.
What am I missing? Happy to have my consciousness raised.

(9,527 posts)Also I don't know how somebody could claim that most straight people cringe at seeing two guys kiss.

(2,380 posts)which isn't kids by my reckoning. and quite frankly I don't know ANY straight man, at least of a certain age, who isn't uncomfortable seeing two guys kiss. Do you see this as necessarily homophobic? Personally, I'm quite uncomfortable seeing graphic sex, of any type, in the media. I guess I've got some kind of problem, too. Hmmm. Going to have to think about this more.

On the other side there's Fox News, Brietbart, Wikileaks & Glen Greenwald. None of whom I'd trust to keep my fake houseplants alive for a week.

(4,261 posts)She doesn't have to do anything I would like her to do. Just saying what I would like to see.
What I think of the situation is largely irrelevent to the rest of the world, it will keep doing what it does. Just putting my discuss on a discussion board that is all.
