While many reporters have described President Trumps aggrieved psychology, his phone call this morning on Fox & Friends gave outsiders unfiltered access to the sorts of rants he routinely imposes upon his staff. In the interview, Trumps sense of persecution was so acute he was barely able to concentrate on an open invitation to tout his own success, the thing he does best. Asked to grade his presidency to date, Trump began by denouncing the phony cloud placed over his head by the deep state, briefly regained his balance to give himself an A+, and then returned to the calumnies inflicted upon him by his enemies in the media and the justice system. A horrible group of deep-seated people, he insisted, are coming up with all sorts of phony charges against me and theyre not bringing up real charges against the other side. Trumps belief that his enemies, not he himself, should be the subject of legal investigation overwhelmed even his ability to boast about his great success.
But the most disturbing moment came at the very end, when Trump threatened to force the Department of Justice to adopt his own chosen priorities, ignoring the phony charges against him, and prosecuting the real ones against his opponents:
You look at the corruption at the top of the FBI, its a disgrace. And our Justice Department which I try and stay away from, but at some point I wont our Justice Department should be looking at that kind of stuff, not the nonsense of collusion with Russia. There is no collusion with me and everyone knows it.
At this point, astonishingly, the embarrassed hosts ushered Trump off the phone, insisting he must be busy likely the only time in memory a journalist has cut short an interview with the president of the United States. ................ ......................

(30,748 posts)He was the only one left there by the time he died. They razed the building shortly after. What a spooky thing: one old and crazy Nazi rattling around in a huge historic building.
When I was in college, I had a history professor who tried to impress on us the bizarre nature of Hess' parachuting into Scotland. He said it would have been like Spiro Agnew, our whackadoo vice president at the time, parachuting into Moscow.

(11,872 posts)what will have to happen, what catastrophe will be huge enough to force 4 or 5 Republican Senators to march up to the White House and put a resignation letter in front of him. Why are they leaving instead of fighting. With each passing day I wonder if it is not already over for the Republic. If we are not already in the middle of the coup.
The more I read about the Russian connections, it leads me to believe that they have not invested this much time and money in Donald Trump to see it all handed over to the Democrats in the mid-term elections. This is what worries me about all of this. The enormity of it.

(19,204 posts)The idea that there are three EQUAL parts of our government is completely foreign to him. He honestly believes he's in control of everything, and that the rest of the government must answer to HIM, protect HIM, and do HIS bidding.
How did this ignorant, belligerent, narcissistic mutton-head get where he is in life? Oh, that's right....he chose his parents well. It's too bad the rest of us didn't choose our parents a little more carefully. We could be just like Little Donnie if we had.

I decided for once to listen. Trump is mentally unstable. He makes no sense at all.

(11,885 posts)Is a Department of trump justice where he's above the rule of law, and he becomes the judge, jury , and executioner. Remember how with the Central Park 5 he called for the death penalty, then after they were found not guilty as evidence surfaced, he still called for their death penalty. Anyone wishing he has these rights to rule as he pleases is dangerous, as he'll become more and more like Saddam was, and simply ignore that laws apply to him or his family, or corrupt criminal friends. The Republicans will be devastated from enabling him , and allowing this to continue. Both the House and Senate will flip because of all this. Then he'll have to be accountable, and held to the same standards of justice we all do. Not until.

(13,044 posts)"The Department of Justice is constructed around restraints designed to prevent any such interference, because the power to use federal law enforcement as a weapon to protect the president and his party, and to harass the opposition, is so terrifying it has to be prevented at all costs. Trump is, on national television, making existential threats to the rule of law."
Terrifying in deed
