Because there are clearly not enough Joy Reid OPs, here's my take...

IMO, it is beyond any reasonable doubt that there were homophobic posts on her blog in 2006/2007. Especially now that we have discovered that one of those posts was quoted on DU. There's no way a present-day hacker altered both the web archives and also DU to place those posts there.

She claims it is the work of hackers, which means it must have been hackers back in 2006/7. This is plausible, but seems highly unlikely to me. First of all, why would anyone do that, and not bring it up anytime in the last 10 years? Joy Reid was not a big name back then. Maybe someone had a grudge against her, but to hack her blog and then not use it against her for years would just be bizarre. Or maybe some right-winger did it to make the argument "see, even liberals don't like gay people", but then why don't we see where that argument was made. And in either case, it seems weird that she wouldn't have noticed these posts on her blog.

The other question is: how unlikely is it that Reid actually made those posts. That either she shared those sentiments back in 2006/7, or that she didn't share the sentiments but was trying to be provocative for whatever reason. I want to say it's unlikely, given the Joy Reid I've seen in recent years, but unfortunately I can't. I'm quite confident that she neither feels those sentiments, nor would post them, today. But that was a long time ago, people change, and even among liberals views on LGBT were not where they are today. Remember that in 2008 none of the leading Dem candidates for the nomination backed gay marriage.

So overall, I think it is more likely that she made the posts, than that the were due to a hack.

However, there are also other plausible scenarios in which Joy Reid is innocent. For example (and I'm just making this up), maybe someone (an ex-boyfriend maybe) also knew her login to the blog, and made the posts without her knowing or noticing. Maybe she was drinking heavily at the time, and either did some PYI or else logged on with some drunken friends a few nights to post stupid things (though you'd think she would have deleted the posts at the time). Etc. Yeah, it's pure speculation, but it's the kind of thing that happens.

Last observation. If the site that hosted the blog is still around, and/or if their server logs are still around, someone needs to check them. From 10 years ago, they're probably not. But if they are, and if the IP address used to make the homophobic posts is the same as the one she logged in from for the rest of her posts, that's bad news for Reid. If the homophobic posts were made from a computer in Romania, that's good news for Reid.

That being said, I don't think Reid is a homophobe. Like a lot of people she has evolved on the issue. Unlike some purity nutters I've never been one to penalize people for getting it right in the end. I think it's clear Reid has gotten it right on that issue, even if it took some time. I guess we'll see what happens now with the inquiries.

You made a false statement. I pointed out that it was false. Nothing personal about it.

3. Joan Walsh has been following and editing Joy for a long time

I was very sad to see Joan Walsh leave MSNBC. I have been following Joan Walsh for a very long time and I have a great deal of confidence in her judgment. Joan Walsh has been following Joy Reid for a long time and has published Joy Reid. Based on her long experience with Joy Reid, Joan Walsh does not believe the reports on Reid's alleged homophobic remarks

Walsh is honest to admit that she has not read everything that Joy Reid has posted but she does have a good feel for who Joy Reid is.

6. You've spammed this on every single thread. It means NOTHING

Joan didn't "recollect" the Charlie Crist posts, and she doesn't "recollect" these, either. Unfortunately for her, all the internet archives and their mirrors don't have the same memory issues.

10. And what about all the other people that Joy Reid was involved with at the time?

Because literally none of the people that actually know her - including LBGT people - remember these unusual posts either, and they all support Reid.

Do all the people who Reid dealt with 10 yrs ago all have collective amnesia over these posts?

You sound like Trump. "I hear lots of people saying that the CIA is wrong and the Russians never hacked anything."

Random people claiming they "don't recall" reading things on an obscure blog 12 years ago wouldn't be particularly convincing even if there weren't multiple time-stamped digital copies of the actual posts.

And have really swallowed whole the pile of bullshit generated by the entities pushing this false story, which are not & have never been friends of Democrats, liberals & progressives.
