Conway's not happy and SHS was on the verge crying. Wolf is brutal.

(31,893 posts)I feel bad, because I would have loved to have been able to celebrate the fact of a woman doing the WHCD, but she was really not it for me.

(31,893 posts)I was delighted to know there would be a woman doing the WHCD, and was looking forward to watching it.
So I found it doubly disappointing that she was so crass and vulgar, and almost totally unfunny.

(115,869 posts)I'm afraid these crass jokes will play right into the hands of the WH. There's a way to do satire without being gross and vicious. I turned it off.

The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,869 posts)Her jokes were mean-spirited and crude and will do nothing to improve the animosity of the WH - probably make it worse. It was embarrassing. Stephen Colbert (and Obama) knew how to do it, this person didn't understand she wasn't supposed to be doing a Vegas lounge act.

(15,805 posts)It was interesting to see the audience reaction... people under 30-35 were loving her, and younger women were even more enthusiastic. The older folks were definately peeved.

I must say, the scowls on the trumpette/deplorable faces were the best part. Priceless!

(115,869 posts)I'm all for sharp, satirical humor, but this wasn't sharp or satirical or even funny. Colbert did it right. Wolf wasn't at all clever.

(28,082 posts)not topics nearly 50 years old involving a man who has been dead over 8 years. (Yes, I know about the movie, but it still doesn't come under current news.)

Michelle Wolf rocked! I loved her, but the old, rich white people in the audience are not used to being told truth by a sassy, black woman.

(1,295 posts)By being obviously crude & mean, it helps Trump look right for refusing to go. It's almost made to order for his rubes to feel that it shows how the media is NY coastal, biased against Trump, and doesn't represent them.
It would have been nice to see someone like Conan O'Brien do a classier, more subtle job with this, but it will get forgotten quickly in the continuous vortex of craziness.
It will probably help Wolf's career by being kind of outrageous, though.

(3,166 posts)I'm certainly not going to be offended when a WHCD host blasts this SOB....Trump insulted his way to the WH in 2016.....He can handle 20 minutes of a comedian tearing him to shreds....
Hoo-ray for Michelle Wolf.
