Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a longtime opponent of legalizing recreational marijuana, now says the federal government should not interfere in California's legal marijuana market.
In comments to McClatchy Tuesday in the middle of a 2018 campaign for her seat in a state that has settled into the legal pot market the California Democrat said she was open to considering federal protection for state-legalized marijuana.
Feinstein's office said her views changed after meetings with constituents, particularly those with young children who have benefited from medical marijuana use.
"Federal law enforcement agents should not arrest Californians who are adhering to California law," said Feinstein, who faces a challenge from Kevin de Leon, who's attracting many liberals who see Feinstein as too moderate.

(31,121 posts)Personally, if I could choose our Senators and House members they would be so far left they would have to scratch their back with their elbows.
But since that isnt going to happen anytime soon or even in my lifetime, I like these SENIOR officials who know how to play the game and know how to outmaneuver the Nazis.

(67,112 posts)to punish blacks, hippies, certain college students, music groups and others he deemed as undesirables in many cases. It was also done to cripple the hemp industry. It has always been stupid stupid stupid. One can go get alcohol and drink their brains out, ruin their health, activate the hostility portions of their brains and that's apparently legally OK. But a kid with pot, hell, they throw away the key, What a stupid moronic country the US is in so many ways IMO.
