Soybeans slip following report China has halted its US ordersGina Heeb May. 3, 2018, 10:57 AM
Soybean prices slipped 0.61% Thursday morning.
That's after Bloomberg reported that China has essentially turned to other countries for its soybeans.
Soybean prices fell Thursday on the back of news that China has effectively halted US orders of the legume amid a trade standoff between the world's largest economies.
Bloomberg's Mario Parker reported Wednesday that the CEO of the world's largest oilseed producer said orders from China have essentially disappeared.
"Whatever theyre buying is non-U.S.," Soren Schroder, CEO of oilseed processor Bunge, told Parker. "Theyre buying beans in Canada, in Brazil, mostly Brazil, but very deliberately not buying anything from the U.S."

(34,661 posts)Trump has soured all the Bean Buyers overseas. China is about to be Soy self efficient. While our Country has been worried about Abortion and Other Feel Good Legislation,China has been busting their butts filling their own Food Source Needs. China is developing major Bean and Corn growing operations in Africa.
During the Obama years, when ever there was a visit to China or a meeting with any China Representative, there was someone from the Department of Agriculture always in these meetings or visits.
Now days it is all about selling Guns and Planes to anyone who wants them.

(34,661 posts)my sources who have Bins full all under contract, and nervous Bankers worried about that June first payment. They are hoping that their Government Storage subsidy does not go away. If that goes, ouch. And the real challenge is,these Beans can not sustain their Oil quality during the up coming high humidity months.
