(724 posts)Of course, some Judges are just a-holes to everyone. Hope Judge Ellis isn't one of those.

(85,998 posts)...might be hard to rule in Manafort's favor without some controversy over these statements. That was my first thought when I heard him.
If he really had an axe to grind, he'd be better off muting the Brietbart-speak and just ruling with a narrow opinion.

It won't mean a thing when he rules against Manafort.

Watch their heads explode when/if their Reagan-appointed justice rules in Mueller's favor.

(34,661 posts)he has the facts. Remember, this is a all new territory for our country since the Kangaroo Trials of the 1950's.
We might well see a Treason Charge emerge. And the State of Virginia has several cases coming after Mueller finishes with Manafort in Federal Court.

(28,798 posts)when the ruling will be issued?
based on the comments i read i figured he may be near senile and was probably a full blown trump cultist, and the case was either lost or headed for an appeals court.

(2,857 posts)After reading this link, it seems like Manafort found a friend in Ellis.

(85,998 posts)...although he rejected the request, he also said he was open to allowing Mueller a more 'tailored' protective order.

Did he recently become black?
Damn. Those KKK types worried about shifting demographics are gonna really freak out when they find out that white judges are spontaneously turning black.

(28,798 posts)i googled him and the image i saw was a black man.

there's a link but i did see the white guy this time too. so hell i don't know! no way can there be 2 judges in VA with the exact same name, it's not that common of a name.

(62,444 posts)Is to click through to look at the page where the image comes from. You will then find out that Ellis presided in the trial of congressman William Jefferson.

(28,798 posts)what i am going to assume is that the black guy jumping up may be someone tried by Ellis in connection with a blackwater case? i was surprised that this apparent trumpster was a black man to be honest, but there is Carson and there is Kanye etc.

He may need to be removed from the case.

This sounds like not just a plausible argument but a GOOD argument. I just hope it's true.
OldHippieChick
(2,434 posts)but I heard this morning on CNN that the defense could have agreed to consolidate the cases in D.C. and they chose to sever and have a portion decided in Virginia as they anticipated a more favorable ruling from this judge, so I do not believe he grilled the prosecutors because he is on their side. Would appreciate anyone having more details and I will research as well.

It seems that ruling in Manafort's favor, at this point, would be tainted by his open speculation against the motives of prosecutors. That's worth discussing.

(14,249 posts)And I agree that he sounded like he's going to rule in favor of Manafort. But there's a lot of room between the cup and the lip.
