Kelly Keisling, GOP Tennessee Legislator, Mass Emailed Obama 'Staged Assassination' Rumor

sigh...

WASHINGTON -- A Republican member of the Tennessee state legislature emailed constituents Tuesday morning with a rumor circulating in conservative circles that President Barack Obama is planning to stage a fake assassination attempt in an effort to stop the 2012 election from happening.

a real assassination attempt, and if it fails they are laying the groundwork that it was a "fake" attempt.

Although much of TN is blue and it really should be a Swing state, there are plenty of extremists here that would actually be stupid enough to try and assassinate the President - just because he's Black. Or at least partially black.

Don't give up on the entire State - but we do have some radicalists here.

On the one hand, it's batcrap crazy, all right. Ludicrous poppycock meant to stroke some dollar bills out of a few nutbags' hands.

On the other hand, GOP candidates spreading this around sends a clear signal. Any dumbfuck who might seriously consider taking a shot at President Obama now knows just how they will be viewed. An attempt on President Obama's life will make him more sympathetic to the voting public, so that's one reason no self-respecting right-winger should attempt it. And if they do, then they will be turned into a Yellow Dog Commie Demmy-crat by the right-wing media faster than they could blink.

So which of these thought processes do I think Kelly Keisling is actually capable of?

Janet Moore, one of the recipients of Keisling's email, said she called the lawmaker Tuesday morning to express her disagreement with his decision to send the email. Moore, who lives in an adjoining legislative district in rural Tennessee, told HuffPost that Keisling told her that the rumor was "pretty ridiculous, isn't it?"

When she asked Keisling why he sent the email, if he found it ridiculous, she said that Keisling told her, "I wouldn't put anything past anybody."

Gonna have to go with door #1, Monty.
