1. I rank it somewhere around "Swag" and "Yolo." Also "Swole" since that's a thing.

Inane, juvenile and ill-conceived.

What's the gain from using the word? If people find it offensive (whether it categorically is or not), don't use it around those people, that's just a fundamental standard of civility. I can crack short jokes to my Dwarf friend of 20 years, but you'll never catch me cracking the same jokes to a random little person because "fucking duh."

Don't call people, or ethnic subgroups, names they may (or do) find offensive. I'm flummoxed that this is such a difficult concept to grasp. Meanwhile, as people on DU are actively saying "I find it offensive", other DUers are posting OP after OP, "Wypipo isn't offensive and why you're wrong" and other nonsense. It's pre-K levels of pettiness and childishness, done for no purpose other than to inflame tension among us.

If you're in a group that finds it okay to use, fine, Wypipo away. Just don't expect to go without opposition when among strangers.

(I voted I like to Vote both because I like to vote, and because "Subjective but meaningless dipshittery" wasn't an option.)

Maybe I don't get out much, but I haven't seen or heard the term anywhere but here, and only in the past week or so.

I thought it was a misspelling of a beach on the north shore of the Big Island (Waipio).

How was I to know? In German, if you say, Weileu "Vailoi," it STILL sounds like someplace in Hawaii.
