As recently as mid-April 2018?
The guy with the blue plaid jacket. The guy with the amazing "fundraising prowess." I wonder how this schlub got to be top fundraiser of the Republican party?

Cohen is also the deputy finance chairman of the RNC, which is responsible for the bulk of its fundraising operations and is the third member of the committee, including the former chairmen to have come under severe scrutiny in nearly as many months.

The RNC, Broidy, and Cohen did not respond to requests for comment. But these revelations also come as the RNC continues to smash fundraising records. In February alone, the organization raised $12.8 million, the most it has ever raised in February of a non-presidential year. The RNC also continues to benefit from its relationship with President Trumps businesses; it is holding its spring meeting at Trump National Doral, and spent a little over $271,000 at the properties owned by the Trump Organization in February, according to filings from the Federal Election Commission. Over $205,000 was spent at the the Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida, and $65,000 was spent at the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C.
Given this relationship, and the fact that the President was so angry by the news of the raid, one GOP source familiar with the workings of the RNC Finance Committee posited it is unlikely Cohens role on the committee will change anytime soon. The source highlighted Cohens fundraising prowess, but noted that Cohen himself may not even care one way or another what happens.

Cohen, who also serves as a deputy finance chairman for the national party, is under criminal investigation for possible fraud and is at the center of controversy for his role in paying $130,000 days before the 2016 election to former porn star Stormy Daniels. Daniels says she had a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006. Trump has denied the affair and said he did not know about the agreement Cohen reached with the adult actress.

In court filings Friday, federal prosecutors said Cohen is the target of a "months-long" criminal probe into his personal finances and business dealings.
McDaniel said Cohen still serves as a top fundraiser for the RNC. She said she wants to conduct "her due diligence" and talk with Cohen before making any decisions about his role with the national party.

(34,447 posts)completely covered in slime. No wonder Nunes & the House Intel Committee wanted this swept under the rug & the Senate is doing next to nothing. They're all in cahoots. And I thought Watergate was bad. That was child's play compared to this. Back then, we had Republicans who actually loved their country more than party and power; now, there are none to speak of. They're all dirty or too cowardly to stand up to the rest of them. Not only do you have a sleazy, corrupt White house, but Republicans in Congress are right down in the gutter with them. Shameful. If we can't clear out the rot, our country is doomed to become the biggest, most dangerous Banana Republic on the planet.
