It is that the GOP and the Republican leadership, thru the workings of the RNC, have been financing their campaigns with Russian money. Although there was an earlier report that Mitch McConnell had set up a PAC that was financed with foreign money, the details have been scant.
When Donald Trump appointed Michael Cohen as Deputy Finance Chair of the RNC, the wheels were set in motion. As far as we know, Michael Cohen is still in that position at the RNC. Although not yet validated, it appears that the LLC that Cohen set up to pay hush money to Stormy Daniels, also had other purposes. One of those purposes was to funnel money into Republican campaigns so as to consolidate the political power of Donald Trump and to keep the Republicans in power.
This is a story almost too big to tell. One of the national Parties, the Republican Party, is in bed with Donald Trump and his Russian allies in order to finance their political campaigns. Now we can see why they have been so intent on killing the Mueller investigation and to prevent the American people from knowing the truth.

(3,608 posts)neglected to mention his "work" with the RNC. I agree this is going to be freaking huge. I think I'm gonna pop that bottle in my fridge tonight. I've waited long enough and this is a good enough of a reason.
This is a huge fissure that will turn into an all engulfing sinkhole for pee-Resident RUMP and his corrupt Shaministration and his criminal business enterprise.

(146,329 posts)It's going to take some serious sleuthing to dig through all of that, though. Cohen needs to flip on the whole business, in exchange for a lighter sentence. I think he could be persuaded to do that, and I imagine discussions are already underway.

From Forbes' article about multiple huge scandals and potentially lethal legal disasters within the RNC, or what its headline describes as "headaches:"
Given this relationship, and the fact that the President was so angry by the news of the raid, one GOP source familiar with the workings of the RNC Finance Committee posited it is unlikely Cohens role on the committee will change anytime soon. The source highlighted Cohens fundraising prowess, but noted that Cohen himself may not even care one way or another what happens.
I cant imagine the RNC punishing a guy who seems to be in the crosshairs of the special counsels office because of his client, said the source. Punishing him because of his client doesnt seem to be an effective way to go.

(4,462 posts)... great explanation of what has been going on for the last two years, but its still an unproven theory not yet known to mainstream America.
WE know it, and have every reason to believe it, because we are paying close attention and connecting the dots. I am always amazed that things are discussed and theorized here on this forum and others like it MONTHS before it breaks or becomes accepted by mainstream media. We are ahead of the curve by quite a bit. The rest of the country just doesnt follow this stuff closely enough to see the bigger picture.
I say this to point out that once the tentacles of foreign influence have been fully exposed, and Republicans start resigning because theyre caught (not just to spend more time with the family), the support will begin to slip. Of course, many republican voters will remain loyal, but many will not once the news breaks through to them. If this shaves off 10%, it will be disasterous for Republicans in elections across the country.
Keep the faith. A reckoning is coming.

(9,090 posts)all dems have to do is destroy that dominating messaging advantage and their the credibility of their talk radio gods.
there will always be racists and religious extremists - they're using 1500 coordinated radio stations to amplify that bullshit into something that looks like 'popular' support - for billionaires....
trump studied talk radio in 2014, according to sam nunberg (that nunberg) as interviewed by gabriel sherman for new york magazine 4/3/16. the kremlin have been using talk radio since rove lost the white house and central control. have limbaugh and hannity been getting russian money, knowing or not, for freelance work? when limbaugh created 'climategate' saving the russian billionaires and the kochs billions by slowing climate action in 2009, it started with a russian hack of east anglia climate scientists' emails, and within days limbaugh had the out-of-context material ready to go to 'prove' global warming was a hoax, which is what trump cited even a couple of years ago. then in 2011 limbaugh spent months trying to get the US to default on its debt, ending in the sequester. would the kochs want default and that chaos?
a lot of the trump votes came from 30 years of the secondary and tertiary propaganda targets of the talk radio monopoly.
that's why it is incompatible with democracy and none of those stations should be getting any advertisers that don't enthusiastically support trump.

(2,597 posts)I believe even the ones who are retiring now dipped their toes in the kleptocratic, dirty-laundered monies. If they did not all individual participate in raking in the money, they knew about it or heard rumors. I'm not entirely certain that McConnell actually believed Putin's made man was going to be able to pull out a win -or to put a finer point on it, that the "fix" would do the trick - he was happy to let their dirty money fund their nefarious shenanigans. And McConnell's party was in control of both houses of government when he decided to stonewall President Obama's SCOTUS pick for a year, because he knew he would face no backlash from the American people ahead of the *election*, so it was a good gamble to see if the stars would align just perfectly. If they lost the WH in 2016, it wouldn't have mattered much to them anyway. (Of course, it would have mattered, because Garland would have remained on the bench for essentially the rest of his lifetime, making rulings that would say, be less favorable to the donor class).

Its impossible to refute an accusation about classified emails without talking about the content of the classified emails, youre not even supposed to talk about security clearances.
Trump himself was under investigation for coordinating with Russians, but that couldnt be discussed because it was a classified investigation.
Trump doesnt care about the rules around such things because hes clueless about them. Hillary knows the rules, and knows its inappropriate to discuss them, talks about the issues instead.
National Security is the problem when one candidate is versed in the proper protocols and the other makes claims where protocol prevents a response.
Its not a level playing field when there is no oversight/punishment for someone who uses breaking national security protocol as the primary tool in their campaign.

A month before Donald Trump clinched the Republican nomination, one of his closest allies in Congress House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy made a politically explosive assertion in a private conversation on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders: that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Theres two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump, McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.
House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthys assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.

(7,725 posts)But fear is a motivator. If this was a Democrat thing, the USA would already be a one party situation. I've surmised this for a long time. Especially since the NRA Funding imbroglio. I'm not a praying person, but, times like this makes me kneel and align my intentions. I guess the bigger question is this, would you be ready to defend this country mano y mano? Would you take up arms to return our country to what the Founding Fathers laid out? I'm not a alarmist, but, we better start girding ourselves for the inevitable if Mueller doesn't bring the whole shooting match down, and everyone who was in on it. RUSSIA NEVER WAS OUR FRIEND. Even in WW2 we fought together bc the enemy of our enemy was our friend. Putin most likely has access to the electrical grid and other things if he can throw an American election, and an entire congressional party is on their side. Once the power goes down, life gets real hairy. No cell phones, no computers, no checking in on DU for marching orders etc. These people will burn down the country before they admit they were in on it, so, prepare for that. In wartime, depending on the situations, war deserters and traitors and enemy collaborators were lined up against a wall and shot. For good reason. It was most horrible, but, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Hating your country and sabotaging it from within hurts everyone in this grand nation. I'm not suggesting killing on ANY level, but, follow the above fact scenario through to its inevitable end. What are we prepared to do? Just a question.
I'm not a proponent of having guns around, especially buying new ones. But, Grandpas old shotgun and deer rifles shoot just as true. It may behoove folks to take stock and maybe set something aside. You never have to touch it again hopefully, but, what if you do? And there's nothing there? Are you ready to be frog marched to a gulag? I'm sure not. What WOULDN'T these guys do? Who exactly is on our side? I know all my local police are total right wingers. The militia around here, well, I think they'd go with the Republican side of things. What nations would come help us? France again Im sure. Britain. Then what? I'm furious that dt got elected by cheating w the sworn enemy of America, and he's been shitting on America in the WHITE HOUSE for over a year now. (Not to mention spending the treasury as if it's his own piggy bank. ugh. Fuck that!) The longer this goes on, the longer people tend to take sides. We don't have two more years of dt to gamble with. WE CAN't WAIT. The midterms are fine, but, what have each of us done so far REALLY? This is our summer of '68.
For now, focus on ONE intelligent gop, if you can find one, and hammer home what we are all coming to suspect. It starts with us. I'm not saying become a prepper, but, it wouldn't hurt us to be bold, intelligent, secure, patriot pacifists. Remember, they think every Democrat is SUCH a pacifist that if bullets fly civil war style, we would just in mass cover our heads and surrender. There is no surrender to this. A foreign enemy has make significant inroads to our way of life. If that's not an enemy, I'm not sure what is. YES the definition of TREASON fits in that paradigm. I'm pretty sure in the civil war brothers didn't want to kill brothers, but...they did. If you don't learn a lesson, be prepared to repeat it. May the Gods help us all. WTH...if aliens are due to come back...the time is coming, please...."phone home". (I jest....or do I?)
Not sure about you, but, I have soldier/airmen relatives. A few who died. Two in the Union Army. If the North has to rise again, we may have to. In war, it's kill or be killed. We have to begin to begin to think out of our comfort zone.
I so hope this is handled aggressively and quickly. We are in uncharted waters here. PLEASE Mr. Mueller. ACT SOON.
