These are just my observations based on the things Caitlyn has said and done: Despite being trans, Catilyn doesn't give 2 shits about anything related to LGBTQ issues. She doesn't think it applies to her, and she doesn't view herself as part of the community. She's just saying this because of public pressure.

She spent at least a year working with trans activists who tried to open her eyes, but she didn't want to listen, or rather see. She had never been involved in political thought except to want her taxes lower, but her reliance on her fame (and, I hate to say, her good looks) seems to have made it hard for her to imagine that this kind of discrimination would exist once she pointed it out. Stupid.
