US cancels training with South Korea over NK threats

A training exercise involving U.S. B-52 bombers flying alongside South Korean warplanes was canceled following threats that Pyongyang would withdraw from a highly anticipated summit with President Donald Trump next month, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing U.S. officials.

According to Friday's report, the officials said South Korea had asked to not participate in an air drill that also involved Japan and the U.S.

The White House referred CNBC's request for comment about the Journal report to the Pentagon, which said plans for a separate exercise is continuing as planned.

The news came a day after the Defense Department said the U.S. had no plans to scale back the exercises.

I bring this up not so much to discuss the merits of doing it but to ask........... can you even BEGIN to fathom, the National OUTRAGE that would have occurred if Obama had extended an olive branch in such a fashion? This article was posted Friday and today, Sunday, is the first I've seen it. If Obama had done this EVERY Rethug would have been screaming into EVERY camera they could possibly find that Obama is "weak" on defense, that he "capitulates" to our enemies and emboldens them to attack us by doing so. It would have been the headline story on EVERY news show with a constant stream of right wing talking heads.

But drumpf does it, and there is a small internet posted article with a few hundred words about it that will probably reach less than 1 million people.
