CLEVELAND, Ohio - Nina Turner, president of Our Revolution, is under fire from critics who feel like she is using the group for her own political gain.
Turner, a former Ohio state senator who rose to national prominence in the group after being a vocal supporter of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' presidential run, has since fallen out of favor with some Our Revolution board members who think Turner is using the group as a personal springboard to higher office, Politico reports.
Among several reasons given in the Politico piece by insiders were the group's lack of support for Hispanic candidates, sluggish fundraising despite having Sanders' coveted 2016 presidential campaign email list and Turner's attempt to install Tezlyn Figaro, her personal consultant, as chief of staff for the group.
Turner and the Our Revolution endorsement process were also criticized by several candidates in the Politico story, including state Sen. Joe Schiavoni, a Democrat from Boardman, Ohio. Schiavoni told Politico he actively went to meetings and sought the group's support.
But Our Revolution endorsed former U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a friend of Turner's. Turner was also close with Kucinich's running mate, Akron City Councilwoman Tara Samples.

She needed the Dem Party influence then & she knew she needed it again in 2015/16.
Then comes the finger..
This is just how Nina rolls, guys.

(68,600 posts)Democrats in 16. I personally would never forgive her. I think she helped elect Trump. Turner is an opportunist. She used Bill and Hillary Clinton and then turned on Hillary.

(6,288 posts)Nina put herself on the fringe & that is where she'll remain.
She has a created a serious trust issue, she'll never overcome it.
The Democratic Party will emerge from this as the true power Party because they are the Party of all races, genders, creeds, & good governance under our US Constitution.
Nina will never have the trust of the Dems again.

(6,288 posts)Not only did Clinton never promise revolution, indeed, much of her history spoke otherwise.
she promised good governance.
So OR finds itself having to come full circle back to....what.
Good governance??
