And no, you're not the only one. The fact is, the veggie garden is a better use of water, fertilizer and time. However, it's like back-yard clotheslines. There are too many people who consider it an eyesore.

They are sometimes forbidden by homeowner associations, which isn't the same thing as being illegal. This has nothing to do with how I feel about people being to own AR-15 rifles, btw. I think they could be strictly regulated under the 2nd Amendment and would be in favor of that.

HOAs have covenants signed by fools, they do not make laws. Against their rules does not equal illegal. It equals against the rules of some fools who joined an HOA.

They can make contracts. Housing covenants are contracts. So if you break a contract you open yourself up to a lawsuit but you are in no danger of being arrested for breaking a law.

so they are not illegal everywhere. I find it ridiculous that they are illegal anywhere, but once you let the government control what you do with your own property, it's only a matter of time before they make something you want to do on that property illegal. And I think your use of an AR-15 as a contrasting picture says a lot about you. Of course that gun should be legal. Using that picture is no different than using a picture of a newspaper with the caption legal. It is completely unnecessary.
