Even if one considers that some of the arena's maximum capacity was taken up by the stage and security, there still were plenty of seats inside and no crowd outside at all. And as you said, this was in the middle of Trump country.

The huge American flags on the sides were probably erected at the last moment when they saw that ticket requests weren't so "rockin".

Trump lost Davidson County, but there are a lot of people within two hours of Nashville that'd be happy to go to Municipal Auditorium and cheer for their hero. I'm slightly surprised they didn't call General Poppas at the 101st Airborne, which is only about an hour away up I-24, and ask him to send down a battalion of infantry. (General Poppas, the commanding general of the Screaming Eagles, would be keelhauled for allowing his troops to be used as props in a political exercise...but that never stopped Trump before.)
