in order to keep his job, I'll believe that the kerfuffle and pearl clutching about Samantha Bee isn't more about her sitting down to pee than it is about "going too far."
That is all.

(32,086 posts)I don't recall the flying monkeys being all outraged over that. They were pretty silent when he threatened to shoot his gun up Hillary's vagina, as well. The outrage over Samantha Bee is laughable in light of their silence back then.

(9,527 posts)There are ways to insult people that don't involve denigrating other groups.
"Colberts apology, such as it was, was mainly about that final line. I would change a few words that were cruder than they needed to be, he said. I just want to say, for the record, life is short. And anyone who expresses their love for another person in their own way is, to me, an American hero.

Perhaps not the most ardent apology, but still an apology.

Sam is a woman, and a feminist. That makes a difference.

(34,467 posts)this incident really puzzles me. She and her writers are outstanding at clever turns of phrase (as well as other things) and the offending word was said so quickly (and bleeped out on my recording) that I dont understand why she didnt substitute something more creative, funny, and devastating. I dont see what was gained by using a term that offends many people, especially given her awareness as a feminist. It doesnt seem like her to do something really controversial (and at womens expense) simply to create buzz for her show.
