If Willard will lie about that, he will lie about anything.

Seriously, though - I mean it was a stupid little thing, he was speaking right after Wolf Blitzer said Wolf was his real first name - but he just lied reflexively, I guess. Wolf got a laugh, and Romney wanted a laugh, too, maybe?

I think he's used to lying because he surrounds himself with yes-men (and -women) who won't call him out on his bullshit, and he has yet to figure out that voters and the media expect the things he says to line up with verifiable facts.
