zeddy @Zeddary 19h19 hours agoThis is worth focusing on. D'Souza's ex-wife submitted a letter at his sentencing detailing years of physical abuse. Something that would've come up in any half-way normal vetting for a commutation/pardon case.

(6,254 posts)I can somewhat understand how countrymen could hate each other so much as to fuel a civil war. Trump attracts and brings out the absolute worst people and the worst in people. I cannot talk to Trump people and generally find them to be simply ignorant and despicable. I have a 22 year old son who just graduated college and he supports Trump but cannot articulate why. It blows my mind. When I was in college, I loved Ronald Reagan. Looking back I now know that while Reagan had a magnetic personality his policies were flawed. Back then I couldnt articulate why I liked Reagan other than I lived his bravado and confidence. As I became more educated as to policy, my views changed but even today I know Regean was a patriot and loved his country. He was the right man for the country at the time. So viewing my sons support of Trump through my own experience I can understand that he likes the tough talk. While I love my son, we stay away from political talk because he simply is ignorant and doesnt attempt to learn the facts. Its going to be a trying summer at home in a house with 5 Dems and one Trumpster. The kick in the gut is, Trump could have been a once in a lifetime President. Beholden to no one he could have governed by a coalition of moderate Dems and Republicans but is complete and utter ignorance of policy, government, law, you name it, squandered that chance. You watch, should Dems win congress in 2018, no doubt the Dotard will cozy up to Dems and the Dems will play ball.

(9,350 posts)People need to remember that Trump defended a man who was accused of physically abusing three women. Also, Trump only fired the man because of a public firestorm. Even if Trump had known this he would not have cared. People also need to remember Trump does not care about the bad behavior of people who support him. Dinesh D'Souza is a Trump supporter and an Obama hater; therefore, there is very little, if anything, that can be said about D'Souza that would make Trump not support him.
