The Trump Show Skedded for Cancellation?

Now in its fifteenth month on the air, the Trump Show is an unmitigated flop – and as long as we’ve all got cancellation fever, why not kick this one to the curb once and for all?

The show was doomed from the start. The male lead is an obnoxious, lying blowhard, whose every line is a garbled litany of self-pitying grievances and self-serving bullshit.

In addition to the truly repulsive lead character, the show’s dialogue gives credence to the idea that if you put a roomful of moneys in front of a bank of typewriters, they’d eventually come up with the incoherent statements sputtered in every episode.

After a disastrous launch featuring characters who had to be written-out due to indictments and/or guilty pleas, the entire show was mis-cast from day one. Betsy DeVos in charge of education? Ben Carson as Secretary of HUD? Who in a thinking audience would buy those whacked-out characters in those roles?

The constant changing of main characters – an obvious attempt to boost ratings – invariably made things worse. Sadly, it was the “fun” characters who got dropped and replaced. At least Sean Spicer hiding in the bushes was good for comic relief, and Anthony “The Mooch” Scaramucci (whose character was based on Baghdad Bob and several Goodfellas minor players) would have been a vast improvement over Sarah Huckabee Sanders, whose lackluster lying comes off as droningly amateurish at best.

The show also suffered from a lack of follow-through. Pre-show promos touted Mexico paying for a border wall, Obamacare being replaced with cheaper and better healthcare for all Americans, massive tax-cuts for the middle-class – none of which came to fruition after the show started airing.

There was also the ridiculously unbelievable storylines – like putting a bumbling, inept Jared Kushner in charge of everything from wiping his father-in-law’s ass to achieving peace in the Middle East. Who with a functioning brain would think that even remotely plausible?

The show featured some unusual plot-twists, like Obama wiretapping Trump, the FBI embedding a spy in the Trump campaign, the “fake news” about the Russian “witch-hunt”. But the truly interesting plots have been written-out of the script – like the over seventy meetings between Trump’s team and Russian operatives that were denied until the proof thereof was exposed.

Admittedly, there have been some interesting cameo appearances: Dr. Ronny “Candyman” Jackson, Kim Kardashian, and even someone called Melania and/or Melanie in a recurring role as The Trophy Wife.

Now on life-support, it was inevitable that the Trump Show would embrace the old Love Boat tradition of bringing back aging, irrelevant performers from the where-are-they-now files like Rudy Giuliani, along with a season-ender cliffhanger about whether the summit with North Korea is on again/off again – tune-in to find out!

The Trump Show is an unmitigated disaster, and how it’s lasted this long can only be attributed to its Russian sponsors, who apparently have a vested interest in keeping this shitshow on the air.

Personally, I’m looking forward to the season-ender of the other show that’s running concurrently on another network: The Bob Mueller Show. While that program’s storyline has been kept under wraps, I am tantalized by its above-reproach cast of characters, and the idea that its plotline is based on actual facts. I predict it will be a major hit (literally and figuratively), and will lead to the ultimate cancellation of The Trump Show, which never should have seen the light of day in the first place.
