BTRTN: To Bee, or Not To Bee

Born to Run the Numbers on the latest in our 21st Century Cultural Civil War... the shit for shat between Barr and Bee.

http://www.borntorunthenumbers.com/2018/06/to-bee-or-not-to-bee.html

Excerpt:
"Let’s start with the issue of the comparison of the two cases: Roseanne Barr accusing an African American of being a mutant creature than is less than a human being is exponentially worse on the Richter Scale of fire-able offenses than anything Sam Bee said. It is one of the worst examples of racism I can remember since… well, now that I think about it, it actually wasn’t all that long ago that Donald Trump called African countries “shitholes...”

"But to have anyone call a woman – no matter how loathsome that woman is – the “c” word, and to have no formal redress beyond an apology appears to me to be a concession that this vile word is now fair game for anyone. Who wants that world for our children?

"In the end, if we justify calling Donald Trump’s daughter the “c” word because Trump himself has debased our national dialog to the point where we feel we can only be heard if we are as crude, cruel, and evil as Trump is, then he has actually finally won. Then we have become what he is, and then he really does deserve to be President of the United States."

If someone steals lunches out of the company break room, you scold the person and demand an apology. If the person steals company funds on a large scale, you fire them. Not every offense is reason for firing

The trumpsters can dish it out, but they can't take it.

I'm a 67 yo white woman who continues to see white male privilege intended to even exclude me. Ran into it just yesterday at the bank. And when I left after calling it out, I saw a car parked next to mine with Trumpster stickers. I'm pretty sure the male client who expected to skip over me in line waiting for the bank rep to deal with a sit-down issue--at the insistence from a male bank rep that the guy was next even though I had sat down to wait before him--was the owner of the Trumpster stickered car.

Fu*k all of them. Fu*k Ivanka and Jared, too. Her father approved using the c word applied to Hillary, so I have no problem with Sam Bee appropriately using the c word to describe Ivanka supporting tearing immigrant children from their parents while she celebrates some mommy time with her child.

I want to see every last one of the Trumpster family in jail. Every. Last One.

Sam, I am a huge fan of yours. I appreciate that you had the guts to make a total and unconditional apology. Get back to work and to doing a great job.

To Bee, or not to Bee? That’s easy. Sam, we need you to keep being Bee. Keep slinging your arrows against a sea of troubles. Let Roseanne, Trump, and those who emulate them continue to lower the Barr.

Thanks for reading and for your comment. I think you are right... the excerpt would have provided a more complete sense of the essay's overall conclusion if we had included those last two paragraphs. Greatly appreciate the input, and thanks so much for the careful reading!
