1. Make sure your voter registration is up to date.
2. Make sure you have any required ID.
3. Make sure you know your polling place.
4. If you voted absentee/mail-in, check to make sure they received your ballots.
5. If you have not mailed in your ballots, take them to your county clerk's office.
6. If you live in California, especially San Francisco, make sure you allow plenty of time to complete six pages.
7. If you live in California, your employer MUST give you time to vote under state election laws.
Please add anything I might have missed. Good luck out there.

(15,003 posts)I voted today; I had filled out my absentee ballot and dropped it off at the polling place -- mine was open for a 4-day window, but it varies. If you can, vote this weekend and save yourself the hassle of doing it on Tuesday!

(31,261 posts)In person, by mail? In Florida, we have in oerson early voting something like 11 days before an election, including two weekends, if I remember correctly, and during that time the polls stay open 8am to 8pm.

(59,234 posts)Any registered voter in the state can be added to a vote-by-mail list and get their ballots about a month before every state and local election. For in-person early voting, the counties decide how long you have. We have a month in San Francisco.

(10,158 posts)In Santa Clara county one can vote in person during normal business hours (i.e., M-F, 9AM-5PM) at the county registrar's office the 29 days prior to the election (which is when mail-in ballots are sent out). Or one can mail back their ballot, or drop it off at the various city halls during that time. And recently the county has provided early in-person voting at various sites in places other than San Jose - even one up here in "the hinterlands". And on election day itself, if you have a mail ballot you can drop it off at any polling place in the county.
And if you have a mail-in ballot (and some counties do all mail-in), there's always going to your assigned polling place on Tuesday.

(16,254 posts)And, I know it was received because the phone calls have finally stopped. They do that once you are marked off the list as having received your ballot.
