Mitt actually filed for an extension until October.

...though a weekend or some other factor can sometimes adjust that. I forget if that was the case this year.

I adjusted the Subject line to avoid people associating the 15 with the wrong item when reading it.

However, you still have to pay any taxes you estimate are due by April 15, and they'll ding you for interest if you don't pay enough when you file your return in October.

Mittens' returns aren't due until 10/15, and I'm sure they won't be sent in a second before. Just like anybody else who's ever done that (including me). Also, getting an extension doesn't mean you are hiding anything or trying to evade paying taxes. It might be something as simple as some missing paperwork. I had to do it a couple years ago because I'd lost a W-2 and couldn't get it replaced fast enough. Millions of people get automatic extensions; it's no big deal.

Even in Mittens' case it's probably nothing nefarious. What I'm much more interested in is the returns he's refusing to supply at all.

...unless you've released several years of returns, say, 12 or whatever you showed to the guy who was vetting you for VP.

I understand that legally he has until October, and that's fine under most circumstances, but it's one of the paltry two returns he says he's going to release. You'd think running for president might be important enough to break routine a little and get it done sooner, but the man has his priorities, and the public ain't it.

There's no fucking WAY I'd run for a public office!!!

Besides, my tax returns aren't controversial. It's everything ELSE that is.
