Tucker’s airplaneOracle Challenger II
Tucker's airplane, the Oracle Challenger III biplane, produces more than 400 horsepower, weighs only 1,200 pounds, and is considered the most high-performance aerobatic aircraft in the world.[citation needed] The Challenger III is equipped with a unique set of wings that use 8 ailerons instead of 4. The tail on the airplane is modeled after the tail used on high-performance radio control airplanes.

It's holding its own w/ F/A-18's. I'm quite impressed!

I was just driving toward town and passed people on the sidewalk looking up at the sky -- they're practicing today.

I was a passionate fan since the age of 8 ( Seattle is my hometown)
and the thrill of my life at that age was being allowed to sit in the Miss Thriftway, one of my uncles knew the boat owner or something like that.
After Bill Muncey died, the races seemed to have lost some luster for me, and the boats had gone to turbos by then, the "roar" was not the same.
But Seafair was always a huge event for us.

My brother and his friends had hydros cut from balsa wood, would paint them, and tie them to the back of their bikes. Not sure they're still doing that.
Miss Thriftway! That sure brings back memories!

Beautiful picture of a gorgeous, sunny afternoon in Seattle. Way cool.

If I had taken the picture, it'd been called "condensation trails over Seattle".

I worked across the street from Dobbins Air Reserve base in Marietta, GA, where the air shows are held every year. Fortunately, they were doing practice runs the day before the show, and everyone in the office ran out to the parking lot to watch them as they did their aerobatics above us. They are totally breathtaking.

They do a show in Corpus Christi once or twice each year. Unfortunately, our house is less than 2 miles from the Naval Air Station and we are directly under the flight path of some of the aerial stunts. Two days of practice, then two days of shows, means every window in my house rattles for four straight days. I still love to see them fly, though--but damn, it's loud when you live near the base.
