Crowd cheers when valedictorian quotes Trump. Then reveals it was Obama

LOUISVILLE — Bell County high school student and valedictorian Ben Bowling wanted to share some words of wisdom with his graduating class, but there was a twist that no one saw coming.

"This is the part of my speech where I share some inspirational quotes I found on Google," Bowling said in his speech. "'Don't just get involved. Fight for your seat at the table. Better yet, fight for a seat at the head of the table.' — Donald J. Trump."

The crowd burst into applause.

"Just kidding," Bowling said. "That was Barack Obama."

The 18-year-old valedictorian said the crowd quickly went silent.

...

“I just thought it was a really good quote,” Bowling said. “Most people wouldn’t like it if I used it, so thought I’d use Donald Trump’s name. It is southeastern Kentucky after all.”

do not in any way, shape or form represent all the youth of the south. Your statement is more than a little stereotypical and represents a distinct misunderstanding of southern diversity. The Parkland students, technically, are also part of the youth of the south. Last I checked, south Florida wasn't the 6th borough of New York.

when 100% of the states voted for idiot, and then reference IL you claim incorrectly voted for idiot that actually voted for Hillary.

And I am the one that is off kilter here...?

I showed you the bloody map it is ALL RED IN THE SOUTH.

Just for the record, when an area time and time again votes for asssholes, you are going to get a bad rap.

And yes, I know there are a lot of GOOD people in the south that have to tolerate the idiots. I was not painting with a broad brush.

But math.. do the math. It does not look good in the south....

I would have loved to have been there to see the looks on the audience faces. This is exactly the problem. It doesn't matter what is said or what is done. If Trump does it, it's wonderful. If Obama did it, it's evil. This just goes to show that these people have no values. They are nothing more than cult members.

It consists of cohesive thoughts, complete sentences, good advice, and is clever. Most importantly, it's positive, not negative. So, not Trump.

This would be Trump's version:

"You gotta WIN. Win BIG. Like me. I'm the biggest winner, probably in all history. They write books about me because I win so much. We don't want to be losers like the ones before us who have ruined this country."

If there are too many multi-syllabic words, or proper use of punctuation (especially parenthesis) or non-run on/complete sentences, then you know that trmp didn't write them.

It's not even a challenge anymore.

You have to let the applause settle and with all the clappers feeling great about themselves, then you drop the "Just kidding..." line and emphasis during near-total silence.

The typical flaw is impatience and saying it while applause is still going on. That ruins the impact. One poster in this thread -- post #6 -- seems to have inside info that it indeed played out that way. Unfortunate. If so, it reads much better than it happened.

It doesn't matter what was said. It matters who said it.

It doesn't matter what nonsense comes out of the White House as long as it's from a Republican president. To them, any gibberish from a Republican is preferable to wisdom from a Democrat. And my bet is that four fifths of that graduating class of high school seniors is thoroughly convinced of the same bullshit their parents are. What better indication, after all?

If the valedictorian had said, "My friends, I advise you to heed the words of Donald J. Trump: "if you keep your frammis on the double tralfazz, there is NOTHING you can't accomplish!" The audience would have erupted into long and sustained applause.

Full Brainwashed Mode except for Ben Bowling, the Valedictorian!

Love it if he had some supporters!

Found some!..

"There was a portion of the crowd that thought it was absolutely hilarious," Alisha Russell, a Kentucky law student who attended the ceremony said in a Twitter message. "But there was definitely some collective groaning too."

Y’all, no lie - the valedictorian just quoted Trump and everyone cheered.. then he told us that it was actually an Obama quote. Best part of the day. I am rolling.

Madison alerted to this on his show this morning.

Let's just say that hopefully a few in that crowd of (I think he said) ~800 graduates, got a little lesson. Even if you convince a few who truly aren't "into politics" or "paying attention" how despite the fact that "words matter", for some people, those words seem to "matter more" when uttered by certain individuals versus others and the question they should think about is "Why?".

Of course this is the same state where former governor Bershear created "KYNect" for the state's implementation of the ACA (i.e., "Obamacare" ) and whole swaths of the haters and clueless refused to believe it was "Obamacare". The subsequent governor has been going about threatening/attempting to dismantle it all.
