Students announce 60-day, 20-state, 75 stop summer bus tour to register young people to vote

The students of March for Our Lives, including survivors of the Parkland high school shooting, today will announce a 60-day, 20-state, 75-stop summer bus tour to register young people to vote and to promote gun law reform.

A key quote: David Hogg, 18, who graduated yesterday with the other seniors of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, told me in an interview Saturday to promote the tour that his biggest surprise as he travels the country has been: "There’s a lot more love than hate out there."

We also need to get them out to vote.

Between 2012 and 2016, the number of registered voters increased from around 150 million to around 200 million, a huge 33% increase. However, the actual number of people voting only increased slightly, to 137 million from 129 million, an increase of 6%

The old white christian males with their racist ways will die out sooner. These kids want to grow up in a safe environment free of guns and hate. I applaud them!

the world will be a better place as the racists die off. Problem is, racists beget racists who beget racists, and the Thug Party wants it that way.

But in the meantime, it's fantastic to see these kids so energized and doing something that is the complete opposite of those stupid articles telling us that young people are shiftless and entitled.

Not much impact in 2018 and 2020 but all the age trend lines are positive.

This push needs to be year round, not merely during summer. At least the kids have figured it out, the avenue to greatest gain. Now if only someone like Rachel Maddow would likewise figure it out and frequently do her show from remote college campus locations promoting registration drives. That could quickly catch on and become like a mini version of College GameDay, scaring the heck out of Republicans.

These kids are going to change the landscape of American politics in 2018 and 2020. The anti-Trump vote will combine with an unprecedented youth turnout to result in leftward landslides in the mid-terms. They'll need to keep the momentum going in '20 (if Trump is still in office). Either way, the NRA and their whores in Congress will rue the day they decided to pick a fight with the enormous, but largely untapped 18-24 year old voting block.

Serious numbers.

Would be to arrange rides to and from.voting stations on Voting Day- to make sure people show up! Also, ensuring that all voters have their valid I'D and can actually vote is equally important. Registering voters would mean nothing of they can't actually vote or can't get there.to vote. Remember, the next hacking will be to invalidate voters info so they can't vote.

In the middle of Honky Tonk row, a four story banner proclaimed "THIS IS AN NRA TOWN!". Much as I love music, the place looked like Deplorable Disneyland. Sadly, I drove on.🙁 There is great music in most towns played by talented and dedicated performers.

A quick mind, sound judgment, an ear for public opinion, rough and ready demeanor - he can go anywhere in life! Distinctive and not generic looks - appreciate the whirlwind he has put together! 75 stops - has to deliver 350,000 new voters at an absolute minimum! Perhaps 2 or 3 times that! Just think all the instant messaging this spawns!

There are times we lost control of Congress by less than 10,000 votes in the aggregate! (1994 comes to mind, but I didn't look it up, so don't quote me.) Give Democrats 250,000 new, incremental votes and we are good!

Smart, dedicated, and committed to changing the landscape. I am sorry they had to go through a devastating school shooting, but proud of them for how they have turned tragedy into a worthwhile mission.

Perhaps there are others more deserving of that accolade, but one does not come easily to mind.
