This Cat Just Celebrated It's 30th Birthday And It's Probably The Oldest Living Cat In The World Right Meowhttps://www.boredpanda.com/worlds-oldest-cat-rubble-30th-birthday-michele-heritage-britain/?cexp_id=10382&cexp_var=8&_f=featured
Michele believes that the secret to Rubbles longevity is the fact that she pampers him as if he were a child, she never had children of her own so Rubble is positively showered with attention and care. Hes a lovely cat, although he has got a little grumpy in his old age, she said. He has plenty of life left in him yet, but I dont think we will go down the Guinness World Record route as I am not sure he would like lots of people coming to see him or a fuss being made out of him.He is old now and would not like too much attention or be hassled. We would prefer if he was just left to live out his old age in peace.
The oldest cat who ever lived, according to the record books, is Creme Puff, who was born on August 3, 1967, and lived until August 6, 2005, an incredible 38 years and three days! Rubble has some way to go before breaking that particular record, but Michele is very proud of his achievement. She remembers her 20th birthday, the day they first met, quite clearly. He was part of a litter of cats that my sisters friend had, and I had just left home, she explained. I was lonely living on my own so got him in as a kitten. He is very loyal. We used to live in London and moved around a lot.
If you care about something and someone and really love them, that goes a long way. I have always treated him like a child I dont have any children and had another cat called Meg who passed at the age of 25. If you care about something, no matter what it is, it does last.

(575 posts)I have a cat we rescued. No idea her age but, we guess her to be about 10 now.
We've had her since she was a very young.
I am a lover of both dogs and cats. Have had both.
It's so nice to see Rubble is still loved very much after all these years. So many do not understand what Adopting a pet means.
You are a lucky old guy, Rubble.

(146,317 posts)Both were OK until near the end. The 24-year-old one actually caught a bird in the last week of her life. Bad kitty!

(23,322 posts)My kitty, Louis, is 15 years old and still going strong for which I am grateful. It is always so hard to lose a beloved fur family member, regardless of age...I can't imagine what it would be like to lose one after 30+ years. You're a beauty Rubble!!

(21,132 posts)I don't know if it is still alive or how long it lived after 2016. The previous record holder was a 26-year-old Corduroy.

I don't know if that totally answers you question, because I don;t know if the Guinness record is for the current oldest, the oldest ever, or the oldest that ever lived.

(5,164 posts)I wish my cats could live that long. I just lost my girl who was part norsk skogkatt which he looks like as well. I think she was 17 based on her estimated age when I rescued her. She had some severe health issues at the end, I miss her so much. I think Im ready for the rainbow bridge myself now to be running free with all my kits. She was something else, a beautiful sweet goddess sent to give her love and light and strength in this bleak world.

(81,322 posts)We got her from our vet, where she'd been dumped as a tiny kitten, when our kids were both in elementary school. Now, they're both grown and moved out, but she's still around. She's old and feeble, blind in one eye, and quite thin, suffered what we think was a stroke last fall which affected her ability to walk, but still she persists. She still grooms herself effectively, and all her eating, peeing and pooping systems are still working quite well. Her hearing is still good and she responds immediately when you talk to her or call her name. And of our three cats, hers is the loudest and readiest purr.
I'm totally in love with her. Don't know how much longer she'll be with us, but we're with her, every wobbly inch of the way, til then.
