'Roseanne' Spinoff Inches Closer to Reality at ABC

The Hollywood Reporter:

Less than a week after its stunning decision to cancel Roseanne, ABC is inching closer to a spinoff of TV's No. 1 series.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the network is knee-deep in conversations with executive producers including Tom Werner for a new incarnation of the multicamera comedy. Werner's Carsey-Werner banner produced the original series and its revived 10th season, with the veteran executive said to be highly engaged in finding a way to continue the franchise with stars Sara Gilbert (who plays Darlene), John Goodman (Dan) and Laurie Metcalf (Jackie). Sources note that it's likely the entire cast — sans star Roseanne Barr — and creative team, including showrunner Bruce Helford and the same writing staff, and crew would return for whatever the new incarnation is. Multiple ideas are being discussed, including one focused on Darlene, as Gilbert was the driving force behind the ABC revival.

ABC declined comment.

Good that the cast and production crew might keeps their jobs after the former lead character blew up her own series.

But I'd bet they could have Goodman slowly hook up with someone else. Probably be good for 2 seasons of plot lines. Maybe even go through a string of partners that just don't ever seem to work out.

I was being facetious... because they made the replacement of Becky very funny joke in the original series. The replacement Becky made an appearance in this new season as well.

Roseanne's character somehow and get over it and move on with the crew that is left. Let the righties cry over her funeral and aneriKKKa can stop whining about her ignorance and hate. Just ignore, ALWAYS watch out for wypipo, they can be very dangerous in their ignorance and stupidity, but try to ignore who her hate represents(66million+wypipo) at this time in ameriKKKan history.

That's my idea on her and how ABC can possibly keep raking in dollars on hate and racism being discussed by a family representing 66million+ ameriKKKans who love their current fuhrer.

That show was never worth saving, but perhaps it was cheap enough to produce for its time slot ratings.

"Roseanne", as a show, has a lot more potential and a very talented cast and writers, but with that comes increased costs. That caliber of talent costs big money. Add the potential additional fallout from the firing of Roseanne Barr by vocal conservatives and Trumpsters and I do not see why ABC would take the chance at a revamp.

maybe the new Roseanne could be played by John Goodman? Endless possibilities.
