I mean WTF already? Can MSNBC give it a rest with beating this dead horse? Who wants to listen to 20 year old news???
I do not get it.

(21,110 posts)MATTHEWS: What do you make of the actual visual that people will see on TV and probably, as you know, as well as I, will remember a lot longer than words spoken tonight? And that's the president looking very much like a jet, you know, a high-flying jet star. A guy who is a jet pilot. Has been in the past when he was younger, obviously. What does that image mean to the American people, a guy who can actually get into a supersonic plane and actually fly in an unpressurized cabin like an actual jet pilot?

MATTHEWS: Do you think this role, and I want to talk politically [...], the president deserves everything he's doing tonight in terms of his leadership. He won the war. He was an effective commander. Everybody recognizes that, I believe, except a few critics. Do you think he is defining the office of the presidency, at least for this time, as basically that of commander in chief? That [...] if you're going to run against him, you'd better be ready to take [that] away from him.

MATTHEWS: Let me ask you, Bob Dornan, you were a congressman all those years. Here's a president who's really nonverbal. He's like Eisenhower. He looks great in a military uniform. He looks great in that cowboy costume he wears when he goes West. I remember him standing at that fence with Colin Powell. Was [that] the best picture in the 2000 campaign?
[...]
MATTHEWS: Ann Coulter, you're the first to speak tonight on the buzz. The president's performance tonight, redolent of the best of Reagan -- what do you think?
COULTER: It's stunning. It's amazing. I think it's huge. I mean, he's landing on a boat at 150 miles per hour. It's tremendous. It's hard to imagine any Democrat being able to do that. And it doesn't matter if Democrats try to ridicule it. It's stunning, and it speaks for itself.

(31,261 posts)He has said several times that he was shocked and dismayed when Reagan beat Carter and remembers going with Carter to meet the released Iranian hostages.

(3,855 posts)Matthews was a speechwriter for Carter. Buchanan for Nixon.

(5,811 posts)i have this sneaky suspicion that some Democrats, maybe powerful want the Clintons to go away not because they don't like them but because they can be weaponized as we get closer to the midterms. The same thing when it comes to Black Lives Matter or Take A Knee.

(1,474 posts)So much of what they talk about makes sense by following the money. Profit much more important than news. I do like Ari, Nichole, Rachel, and Lawrence (first names are easier for my dumbass to spell).

(3,855 posts)I love those first names. The people I find more or less totally unwatchable are Matthews, Chuck Todd, Andrea Mitchell & the 11th hour Peter Jennings-like talking head newscaster guy.

(1,474 posts)I still have a severe grudge against her, Morning Joe, and many others about Hillary's emails. Again, follow the money. Trump was good for ratings. A close, contested election was good for ratings.

(15,696 posts)He was sort of left out in the cold when Tip retired, even though he had served several prominent Dems on the Hill.
He thought he was getting the Clinton White House Press Secretary job in 1993, when Clinton took office. He had worked for Speaker of the House, Tip O'Neill, and he was counting on the Press Sec job... which he did not get. He's been covering both Clintons in a distinctly hinky way ever sensince.

(7,434 posts)ought to have a Clinton pissing contest. For their careers, the Clinton scandals of the 1990s must have been their good old days. They ought to have their pissing contest in an outhouse, and leave everyone else alone.

(22,674 posts)He's always been a Clinton opponent. He and Andrea Mitchell have it out for the Clintons. I'm sure it has to do with some money or political position the Clintons wouldn't throw his way or help him out with and that was probably due to some ethical problem with it if they did.
Good for the Clintons. Screw tweety!

(4,222 posts)The Today Show aired it originally and then they went after it again today and followed it with Megan Kellys take. Then Morning Joe had to cover it with Mika on her high horse. Add to that the Nightly News. It looks as if the network is pushing for more exposure for Melvin. Im done with the whole mess.

(15,811 posts)to discuss their book. Craig Melvin surprised them with his line of questioning. The way he conducted himself was very disappointing, he acted like a punk teenager who'd just found his teacher's private phone book. Not that his questions were invalid; but he insisted on re-accusing, reducing the moment to a level more typical of Fox. And the whole thing did NOTHING to advance any discussion of how our present circumstance should be dealt with. It will be a while before I can watch Melvin again with any measure of respect.
