After being kicked out of Germany Trump's grandfather ran a brothel
in the Klondike in N.W. Canada during the gold rush and Justin Trudeau
gave Trump a framed picture of the whore house in front of the press.
It took Trump 24 hours to realize he had been trolled by Trudeau in front
of the whole world and then Trump started w/his "he is weak" tweets
about P.M. Justin Trudeau.

(1,336 posts).....every hotel that opened in the Klondike doubled as a brothel. that's what happens when thousands of men trek into the back of beyond in search of their fortune, and leave their wives and girlfriends back at home.

(6,279 posts)Looking for the story led me to 3rd-rate sites like Newsmax. And as someone noted upthread, while prostitution was common at hotels in the Klondike, the evidence that it's fair to characterize the place as a brothel is weak. Per Snopes
I want to believe this story, but I'm also not willing to be duped. Oh, and to quote the great Robert DeNiro, "Fuck Trump!" He is loathsome enough without any need to embellish his stupidity and immorality.

I'm mostly skeptical of the "master trolling" part. Trudeau's point may have been more a "we have something in common" plea to Trump's absent sense of humanity. Trump's anti-Canada tantrum needs no special explanation.

negative about the trump bloodline. There is NOTHING that is good, classy, worthy about him or his line of snakes. I believe his grandfather was a pimp and a 2-bit hustler. This POS we have as potus and his complete family is only worth 2 bits. Fuck trump.

In May 1898, Trump and Levin moved to Bennett, British Columbia, a town known for prospectors building boats in order to travel to Dawson. In Bennett, Trump and Levin opened the Arctic Restaurant and Hotel, which offered fine dining and lodging in a sea of tents. The Arctic was also originally housed in a tent, but demand for the hotel and restaurant grew until it occupied a two-story building. A letter to the Yukon Sun newspaper described the Arctic:
For single men the Arctic has excellent accommodations as well as the best restaurant in Bennett, but I would not advise respectable women to go there to sleep as they are liable to hear that which would be repugnant to their feelings and uttered, too, by the depraved of their own sex.
The Arctic House was one of the largest and most extravagant restaurants in that region of the Klondike, offering fresh fruit and ptarmigan in addition to the staple of horsemeat. The Arctic was open 24 hours a day and advertised "Rooms for ladies", which included beds and scales for measuring gold dust. The local Canadian Mounties were known to tolerate vice so long as it was conducted discreetly.
In 1900, the one-hundred-and-eleven-mile (179 km) White Pass and Yukon Route, a railroad between Skagway, Alaska and Whitehorse, Yukon, was completed. Trump founded the White Horse Restaurant and Inn in White Horse. They moved the building by barge, relocated on Front Street, and were operational by June.
The new restaurant, which included one of the largest steel ranges in the area, prepared 3,000 meals per day and had space for gambling. Despite the enormous financial success, Trump and Levin began fighting due to Levin's drinking. They broke up their business relationship in February 1901, but reconciled in April. Around that time, the local government announced suppression on prostitution, gambling and liquor, though the crackdown was delayed by businessmen until later that year. In light of this impending threat to his business operation, Trump sold his share of the restaurant to Levin and left the Yukon. In the months that followed, Levin was arrested for public drunkenness and sent to jail, and the Arctic was taken over by the Mounties. The restaurant burned down in the White Horse fire of 1905. Blair wrote that "once again, in a situation that created many losers, [Frederick Trump] managed to emerge a winner."
I've removed the footnotes for better legibility, but all footnote citations are available in the Wikipedia article.

(6,279 posts)The chief thing I don't buy is that Trump was reacting to Trudeau trolling him over his grandfather running a whorehouse in the Yukon.
Snopes cites the same sources as Wikipedia; their focus was on the claim that Friederich Trump made his fortune off drugs and prostitution and found it exaggerated. The kernel of truth is that those were elements of life in those gold rush communities and most hotels in that time and place would have been part of that system. The single anonymous letter everyone cites is believable, yet hardly establishes that the man was himself chiefly a pimp and drug dealer.
I think Trudeau was just reminding Trump that his own family has business and personal ties to Canada. I see little sound backing for the claim that this was "expert trolling" of Trump by Trudeau that triggered Trump's anti-Canada tantrum - that's what I'm most skeptical of. The sources for that claim I've found are sites like Newsmax, Reddit and something called washingtonpress.com. When I want something to be true SOOO badly and that's the best backup I can find, I need to let it go!
But that's just me I guess

(13,921 posts)I would propose that probably trump never realized, he had to have it spelled out to him by one of his babysitters.
And that they only let him know after they were on the airplane flying away.
Because while I am sure that trump has surrounded himself with folks who compliment his splendorous, manly body and powerful not tiny at all fists on a daily basis, some of them have to be competent enough to know that if they told him and he attempted to bodily assault Trudeau, he would get his ass handed to him.
That said.. While I find it humorous, I also think it may be a very expensive joke, which I find unfortunate.
