About this CAL3 initiative started by Tim Draper,

does it have traction? What are Californians saying. Is this a left or right thing? I tend to put it in the same file as the CALEXIT Russian plot and hope Californians treat it the same way. We need a strong California.

2. Meh, even if voters approve it has too many other hurdles

First the state legislature has to approve it. From what I read they will try and sue and say citizens voting is the same under the CA Constitution. That’s a stretch. Then if they win that battle they have to get Congress to approve. That’s almost an impossible task. The Senate is an exclusive club where by virtue of its small size each Senator has enourmous power. They won’t be up for adding even 4 new members to the club.

It would add 4 Repub Senators and a couple of dozen R's in the House.

Aticle 4, Section 3 lays out the congressional need. Seems highly unlikely, and as such is a distraction.

The Teabaggers will rally behind it, and it will probably get a lot of coverage in the news, but it's DOA.

Back in the day, this 1941 effort actually had a modest chance of going somewhere. That is, until the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor put it on the back burner; its been simmering ever since.

7. Substitute "Ukraine" for "California" and "2014" for "2018" and it's the same old story.

Probably being pushed by the same old actors.
