A history of North Korean promises, declarations and "offerings" since 1985

Here are some reasons why U.S. leaders, at least those who accept State Department briefings, don't continue to invest much time and effort in negotiations with NK. Pretty similar to the reasons that U.S. banks haven't loaned money to Trump in awhile - a track record of poor ROI. Commander Casino jumping into this isn't going to make the world any safer, and it stands to make our relationship with the rest of the civilized world worse. There was never the chance for a "positive step" here, in diplomatic terms as anyone with foreign relations chops will tell you. This "summit" furthered Putin, China and NK's agenda, nothing more.

Trump seemingly justifies brutal actions by Kim and says he's 'very smart'

Who the hell thinks this is a "positive start?"

Certainly no one with experience in or understanding of history or diplomacy.
