"Follow the money Wolf, that's what this is about. With the Mueller probe and this investigation, always follow the money".
Then she said, "Happy Birthday Mr. President!" and she started laughing!
Way to go April! That was great and I was laughing too!

(6,229 posts)Just like with Watergate, except then eventually the repubs knew Nixon was in trouble. Today's repubs won't admit it even if they know trump is in trouble.

(14,174 posts)To never admit to anything and instead go on the offensive. And accuse the other side of actually committing the same crime to muddy the water.

(81,322 posts)ever put to a president at a White House news conference. By her. By April Ryan.
When we were going to war in Iraq, and dubya came to the press room to take questions, she actually asked (paraphrasing) "Mr. President, how does your faith serve you?"
I will NEVER EVER EVER forget that day, or that question, OR her for asking a question that stupid, utterly miserable, and spectacularly embarrassing. I almost threw up. That was the all-time biggest WTF I've ever said out loud. It forever changed how I view her and her work. She dropped through the floor - the basement floor - in my estimation that day. I've never looked at her or her work the same way since.

(90,714 posts)Like maybe "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." He was incapable, but I do think she was trying to elicit that kind of thing from him. At the time, though, it made me see red.

(26,624 posts)as age and maturity do kick in. I remember that incident and that sorry question from an American journalist. I thought at the time, maybe she was being sarcastic, but it certainly didn't seem so.
That said, I like April Ryan. She's made a name for herself by showing some courage, and she's been belittled for it. She didn't cause or promote the war, she didn't vote for the war, she just asked a stupid question. She's managed to survive. I think she's become a good journalist.

(81,322 posts)I can remember being simply flabbergasted. What the hell does "your faith" have to do with lying us into a costly and unnecessary war?
I'll concede that her coverage has indeed improved in the last couple of years. And she's got more backbone now, too. No more fawning with this guy the way she did back then with dubya.
But I'm NEVER going to forget that.
