I think we will hear world condemnation of Trump taking children from their parents.

It is a matter of time. He and his clan will have to defend this often...When he does defend this, it could destroy any positive reaction from the North Korean "peace trip"..

But for some reason, I feel that the fallout from that condemnation will land on the politically powerless: Why didn't you stop Trump? The politically powerful (read: the Republican majorities in both houses of Congress) will skate.

I know we will but I am beginning to wonder where all these "other" people came from. Who hates this much? Man, it is really stunning.

Taking children from their parents is just wrong. (unless the parents are harming their children of course)
For what reason? ..... Oh the family illegally immigrated to get a better life.

It amazes me that America can wake up each morning, go through its day and sleep peacefully when there are children being imprisoned within our borders!!

It's like 9-11 happening and people just going about the rest of their day like usual.

Then nothing will stop this administration and Congress.

As the media turns more and more to this story the worse it will be on Trump.

But, and it’s a big but, if this is allowed then the next step is a fascist government, because there won’t be anyone they can’t go after to throw in camps.

If some tyrannical despot speaks, Trump might perk up, but he has already dissed most of our long standing allies. They can say whatever they want, heap scorn and outrage upon him, make him a pariah in the community of nations, but Trump will wear their contempt like a crown.

If the American people tolerate this, they'll be rightfully shunned the world over.

I think as it gets more reported condemnations from around the world and pictures show children being treated like animals there will be international outrage.

10. U.N. Human Rights office to U.S.: Halt Trump policy separating kids from parents at border

Jun 2018

Associated Press Published 12:19 p.m. ET June 5, 2018 | Updated 12:32 p.m. ET June 5, 2018

GENEVA (AP) — The United Nations human rights office called on the Trump administration Tuesday to "immediately halt" its accelerating policy of separating children from their parents after they cross the U.S. border with Mexico, insisting there's "nothing normal about detaining children."

Ravina Shamdasani , a spokeswoman for the U.N. high commissioner for refugees, scolded the United States over the hundreds of children removed from parents who were jailed for entering the country illegally. She said that border control appears to take precedence over child protection and care in the U.S.

"The use of immigration detention and family separation as a deterrent runs counter to human rights standards and principles," Shamdasani said during a briefing in Geneva. "The child's best interest should always come first."

GENEVA — The Trump administration’s practice of separating children from migrant families entering the United States violates their rights and international law, the United Nations human rights office said on Tuesday, urging an immediate halt to the practice.

The administration angrily rejected what it called an ignorant attack by the United Nations human rights office and accused the global organization of hypocrisy.

13. Catholic bishops issue scathing statement on Trump's family separation policy

CBS NEWS June 14, 2018, 10:50 AM

The bishops also said the Trump administration's policy of separating parents from their children at the U.S.-Mexico border needs to stop.

"Our government has the discretion in our laws to ensure that young children are not separated from their parents and exposed to irreparable harm and trauma," he said. "Families are the foundational element of our society and they must be able to stay together.

"Separating babies from their mothers is not the answer and is immoral," Blansfield said.

14. BISHOP PROPOSES 'CANONICAL PENALTIES' FOR CATHOLICS WHO HELP CARRY OUT TRUMP IMMIGRATION PLAN
Thu Jun 14, 2018, 07:49 PM
Jun 2018

BY PAUL LEBLANC ON 6/13/18 AT 4:37 PM

Bishop Edward Weisenburger of Arizona suggested that penalties be put in place for Catholics who help carry out President Donald Trump’s immigration policy of separating families who cross the United States border illegally. He made the recommendation while speaking at the spring meeting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Wednesday.

“Canonical penalties are there in place to heal,” he said, according to Religion News Service. “And therefore, for the salvation of these people’s souls, maybe it’s time for us to look at canonical penalties.”

A canonical penalty is defined as a punishment imposed by the church, which could include purgatory or excommunication. Catholic church laws are outlined in the Code of Canon law, a system of laws for regulation within the church.
