Expert on local progressive radio station was describing how bad things will get.
He's viewed the voter confirmation cards sent out by Ohio. Said they looked like they were purposely designed to be ignored the by receiver. 90% of elderly whites return the cards, 50% of other groups do not. He expects the other 25 red states to adopt the same process.
He's suing with the ACLU.
The deck will be strongly stacked in GOP's favor.

BUT
If you live in a red area, and your ID is not PERFECT, you may still not be able to vote..
Get a passport, people.. It's good for multiple years and street address should not matter.. and it proves citizenship/eligibility
Get that graduate a passport...That's a valuable gift and one that may even let them have a fun vacation someday

(4,520 posts)after voting in every election for the last 40 years. It was a letter, not a postcard and it didn't look like junk mail. It was clear and concise and told me exactly what I needed to do if I wanted to vote again. Luckily I was able to do those things, but many in my neighborhood would not have been able to comply. I wish there was a way to know who those people are. I would be more than willing to help anyone register to vote, including paying fees for ID and providing transport.

(994 posts)One for each daughter who was registered in Ohio - and voted there until they moved to other states. And one for my ex who also moved to another state.
The cards were easy to read and understand. Obviously I did nothing with the cards because those voters were no longer in Ohio. When I voted in the primary this spring, I noticed their names were no longer on the voting roles. In my opinion, properly removed from the voting roles. FYI - white, very republication district.
Ready for flaming ... if you can't read and understand the cards, then maybe you shouldn't be voting. If you are getting notification because you are not voting and do nothing about it - i.e. not voting in the next couple of election cycles, then maybe you deserve to be removed from the list. It is called personal responsibility.

But I would hope voters are reading and paying attention and not just listening to one source to get their info
