Was Comey Actually On Trump's Team?....

Looking at the IG Report it's hard not to believe that Comey might have been working for Trump in the run up to the 2016 election. As Am Joe said - Comey helped Trump get elected. I know what Rachel said of Comey's 'rock and a hard place' position he was placed in by the Repugs - but it could also be interpreted a different way.

And to think we are on the cusp of the 2018 Midterms. Is Trump trying to do to Mueller what they did to Comey in 2016?

If Mueller doesn't act soon he'll be up against the Midterms. Will he have to wait till after the Midterms to act? Will that help the Repugs maintain their powerbase? Is Mueller working for Trump too?

I really don't believe what I'm saying here - but the appearances of what is happening looks like history could repeat itself.

and that need to believe he, alone, had the integrity to lead, and that his decisions were for the good of the agency. I believe HE believes this unquestionably. Blinders take away all peripheral vision and lead to foolish mistakes. To me, that is Comey through and through.

Doesn't make for a defense of Comey, his actions, or preserve his legacy, but I do NOT believe he was using a personal political calculation nor DIRECTLY an arm of team Trump. However, wearing the blinders that he was, it is not hard to believe the Guiliani's FBI "friends" in the NY Office, may have manipulated him via threats of leaks and believing Clinton was going to win, attempted to ensure he could show no preference given in the FBI investigation of her. His actions and timing hurt her badly. I'm just not sure that was a pre-meditated act to do so.

I don't see Mueller as susceptible to either direct nor implied manipulation by Team Trump. He will do his job within the FBI's mandates for timing prior to the midterm elections. I do believe he has planned for most, if not all of the efforts Trump might make and steps he could take to harm or halt the investigation, including maintaining copies of evidence with State Attorney Generals for both state prosecutions and to protect against destruction in the event the DOJ tried to close down the investigation and seize their evidence. Beyond this pre-planning, I think Mueller will let the chips fall where they may and the investigation--already steaming ahead at a fast pace--complete in the time it requires.

Comey has a need to believe he is "THE Savior". Mueller, ever the good Marine, is guided by Honor to country. The former is easily manipulated. Not so much the latter.

Even wondered if he was angling for the AG spot but things went sour when he did a sloppy job pumping Trump.

Comey's ego was at risk. He didn't want to be attacked for "helping" HRC by being fair, even-handed, and following the rules of his organization. He screwed up big time and got the dumbass elected.

...in Congress on behalf of his agency (not Trump) and assumed HRC would win the General Election.

He should have stuck to protocol and not discussed ongoing investigations and let the cards fall as they would.
