It seems Mr. Manafort is now a guest at the Washington, DC Correctional Facility

This is not going to be comfortable stay. Unless he is in administrative segregation, which he may be, he is with a mix convicted criminals and indicted individuals awaiting trial. DC being what it is, the feds and the District share the facility. This is no Club Fed. Paulie may well cry himself to sleep tonight. And tomorrow night. And the night after that.

Sleep as well as you're able, Paulie. And keep in mind, there are probably roaches there. Here's some info that may be of interest to you:

Cockroaches are omnivores that eat plants and meat. They have been recorded to eat human flesh of both the living and the dead, although they are more likely to take a bite of fingernails, eyelashes, feet and hands. The bites may cause irritation, lesions and swelling. Some have suffered from minor wound infections.

Oh. Paulie. Hey. Keep in mind. Roaches LOVE ear wax. Just sayin' pal. Just sayin'.

...even Manafort. Even these gangsters. Anybody. Yes, there are people who have to be there. But our prison system is so cruel that I find myself almost invariably sympathizing with the people tossed in, no matter their crimes. And for what it's worth, I was the victim once of a criminal who went to jail, and should have. And in the end, I visited him to forgive him, and requested he be given parole, which he got. So it isn't entirely academic to me. (He never went back.) So I feel a human sympathy for Manafort, while feeling he almost certainly deserves what happens to him.

At least until his trial he was free within the limits of his monitoring bracelets. No lock up in a filthy, bug infested cell.

But he violated terms of his bail agreement. He could not stay clean to avoid the revocation of his bail. So he had his chance and he blew it. I am having a hard time finding a lot of sympathy for this guy. He just continued the behavior that got him in trouble in the first place. And natural consequences followed.

Manafort has been taking advantage of our system for decades. He has flaunted our laws. He has used every opportunity to advance his personal and financial interests while ignoring and evading our systems. In his wake, he has left nothing but wreckage.

Sorry, but there are some people who belong in jail. Manafort is one of them. So is Cohen. So is Trump.

The broader issue of prison reform is something that I can support. Our penal system should not be cruel or unusual. And it must not disproportionally target specific groups while allowing others to skate away.

Nonetheless, Paulie "Walnuts" Manafort will have some interesting thoughts tonight after lights out.

Because I don’t wish pain on people, but right now I don’t feel sorry for him. He was treated with much more kindness than immigrant children and their mothers are being treated. He had a choice and he chose to commit a crime while out on bail. The children have no choice.

So he’ll have to chase cockroaches away. Too bad.

He has earned far worse.

This may be pure speculation on my part .....but I don't think Manafort will view the fellow inmates as his peer group, nor will they see him as one of the boys.

and walked my dogs in Congressional Cemetery which butts up against the DC Jail. It is NOT a nice place and it always gave me a bad feeling.

Pauly cannot be having a swell time tonight. Once the lights go out...................................
