I don't believe either of those guys can do hard time though they both hold themselves out as tough guys. In the movie Gotti never fully trusted Sammy The Bull because he had never done time. Gotti believed that people who never did time would be more likely to flip to avoid it. To Gotti death or prison was an occupational hazard.

That being said Travolta does a great Gotti. It was well worth the $6.99 I paid to see it at the matinee.
In the trial where Gotti got five consecutive life sentences he also got a $50.00 court charge. Gotti stands up in court and says I can handle the five consecutive life sentences , but the $50.00, you really know how to stick it to a guy.
*Kind of weird as we have a gangster in the White House.

Did you see when Jr. was on Sixty Minutes ? A lot of that was referenced in the film.
His twelve year old son was killed when he was riding his minibike . The driver eventually disappeared. If I was the driver I would have moved. It's murky if Gotti ordered it. It seems his soldiers might have acted on their own.
