Political Warfare

The GOP sees everything as a political war. All is fair in love, war, and politics. Every day is a new battle.

Unfortunately, the Democrats view politics from a different perspective. They look at the issues and try to persuade the people to support their positions. There is a political order that must be followed.

But, Republicans follow no order. They do what they must do to remain in power and to destroy their opponents. They do not hesitate to resort to lies, propaganda, and even criminal acts, in order to maintain their political power. They are fighting on a different terrain than are the Democrats.

This puts the Democrats at a disadvantage from the beginning. They do not understand their political enemy. They fight from a defensive position because that is part of the strategy of the Republicans.

The most important ally for the GOP is the corporate media. Republicans use them as an arm of their Party. They understand the psychology of the media and use it to their advantage.

On the other hand, Democrats believe in the First Amendment and trust that the media is married to the same idea. But, that is not the reality. The media never hesitates to promote any illogical or questionable attack upon the Democrats by the Republicans. The media permit themselves to be used, rather than to question any motives. Democrats do not maintain such a mindset. They expect the media to call out the GOP on such unfair and untrue attacks, but it seldom happens.

It is easy to blame the media for our lack of understanding and our deficiency in strategy. We tend to fix our picnic baskets and return to fight the First Battle of Bull Run, not realizing how the terrain has changed.

Where are our PACs dedicated to countering the reptiles' damn lies? Sure, we have Tom Steyer, pounding away on impeachment. That air time is wasted, imo, as it is not going to happen in the short term. Yes, long term planning is important. Why do we fail at our messaging in both short and long term objectives?

We have George Lakoff who has written extensively on the disadvantage of Democrats because we don't understand that we can pound a message based on honesty and our values. We also have not created numerous PACS to fund our efforts.

The other party has a fine tuned operation that walks in lock step with party leaders, and rump. Sure it is all built around a lie. We need to pay for media ads and a coordinated effort to spread the truth and our vision.

Just my 2 cents
