So we get home from a graduation party for. I wanted to see the highlights of the Portugal - Spain game which I hear was one of the greatest games ever. Turn on ESPN....nothing. They are completely blocked out of World Cup coverage. Fox TV has the rights to it and they are keeping access exclusive. ESPN had a small clip of kids in Uruguay watching their game but they had to pixilate the TV and commented "yes we have to treat it like porn".
Our Sling package doesn't have Fox Sports on it (I thought it did) so I try the Fox Sports Go app - please contact your cable provider (which I don't have). I'll keep working on that. So I go looking and find the app with ALL ACCESS- every game....Telemundo Deportes. All coverage in Spanish. Oh well maybe I'll pick up some Spanish over the next month.
Tonight, my family is going to see Shakespeare under the stars. Romeo and Juliet.
Like I've always said, Shakespeare would be great if I could see it performed in English.

I came to appreciate and was comforted by those BBC broadcasts like you have never imagined. To this day, if I fall asleep to my local NPR channel and find BBC World comes on after midnight until the very early morning, I feel at peace. So, a British accent is just fine with me (though "Old English" remains a challenge)

(34,136 posts)Call Sling and ask about it. You can add it now and drop it as soon as the World Cup is over.
The channels it is on are on Sling Blue: https://www.sling.com/soccer

(34,136 posts)And the customer service guy I talked to was great.
I was calling to add MSNBC (news package is $5 extra over Sling Blue cost) but he mentioned he gets lots of people who call in to add sports packages every weekend. Then the customers will call back to turn the package off on Monday, every week. They just prorate and go from there.
I ended up dropping Sling for now. CenturyLink made a deal for the basic cable package for the same price Sling charges but I also get local channels, too. When I tried a digital antenna I can pick up the local commercial channels but not the PBS ones so it was worth it to keep paying for PrismTV in a bundle with my broadband and telephone.
Even though I am not a Sling subscriber now, I consider them a good business.
