The leaders of the national GOP must be quaking in their boots.

DT says Michael Cohen is "no longer" his lawyer.

But as recently as a month ago, Cohen was the Deputy Chair of the national Republican Finance Committee -- where he once was a top fundraiser.

Imagine what a treasure trove the Federal investigator in NY is finding in Cohen's emails and tape recordings.

This is so much bigger than just the DT administration.

From May 2018:

In spite of that controversy, Cohen remains a member of the Republican National Committee’s finance leadership team, which he joined shortly after Trump took office. The RNC did not respond to questions about Cohen’s continued role as a fundraiser, and whether he is still participating in RNC events.

There are these occasional little tidbits about the NRA taking money from Russians and funneling the money to the GOP and Trump. I sure hope that if there is illegal foreign activity there Mueller knows all about it.

I suspect he does. Given the sloppiness of Cohen they are not as good at money laundering and conspiracy as they think. I believe they got lazy and careless because in NY they had everyone afraid to do anything. Their strong-arm tactics worked on a local level. They are not going to scare Mueller away.

I also suspect the NRA got into the money laundering business with the last campaign cycle so they may not be very adept at it either. I won't be surprised if they left a very obvious paper trail.

Lordy I hope there's tapes...too. Bc dt has quite a history of phone 'fun' and taping things to cause people chaos and to control other people. He had the switchboard at mara stupi all rigged so he could listen to anyones phone calls. Most likely if he did that he had the rooms set up for videography too. (Im reminded of the XFiles recently where the hotel owner of the dive had stuffed animals heads etc rigged to watch the guests in their room. Please tell me there isn't a doubt in your mind that dt had all that and more.

Given how I understand his father treated him and his siblings I have no doubt where the psychosis is rooted. The domination and subjugation of 45 by his father are the sort of thing often seen leading to sociopath children like Donald.

The repression of desires and the lack of control he felt because of his father are classical contributors to his personality type.

His need for approval and total control are not in doubt. So I would actually be surprised if he DIDN'T have a monitoring/recording system in place.

I will admit one of the reasons I believe this is my own behavior as a young man and young manager of people. I sucked. I thought monitoring people and trying to control their behavior through measuring unimportant metrics was the way to succeed. I was so very wrong. Fortunately for me, I had a mentor who helped me get past those ideas. In a family-owned and run business there was no one to challenge 45 and call him out on his behaviors.

I like your analysis, but, I think most of it comes from a kid who thinks he's entitled. I believe what you say about his parents, but, the majority of what we see is a result of dt's choices. he's a spoiled little bitch.

According to the RNC press release, April 3, 2017, two other people were given the same title on the same day. It's possible -- I haven't cared enough about the matter to research it -- that there were quite a few other Deputy Chairs who'd been appointed previously.

My guess is that it's a title that comes with few or no actual duties. It's just handed out to people who've reached a certain level of contributing and/or bundling contributions from others. It's probably also thought to be useful, i.e., someone so appointed who wants to put the touch on some rich prospective donor can introduce himself/herself as National Deputy Chair.

This doesn't change the underlying point of RNC recognition of a guy who's been shown to be, at best, a sleazeball, and who may be on his way to being a convicted criminal. It's just that, in making that point, we should take care to get all the specifics right. Otherwise, it gives the Trumpsters an opening to quibble over a minor detail. Distraction is one thing they're good at.

Broidy, who is embroiled in another scandal, was another.

From Rachel Maddow:

http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/scandals-engulf-multiple-rnc-finance-chairs

Steve Wynn, for example, was forced to resign from his RNC post earlier this year following sexual misconduct allegations. (The RNC refused to return his money.)

Elliott Broidy, meanwhile, has become quite a controversial figure in his own right. As Rachel noted on the show two weeks ago, Broidy is at the center of multiple, ongoing controversies, including allegations that he pitched himself, shortly before Trump’s inauguration last year, as someone who could help Russian companies get off the U.S. sanctions list for a fee.

And then there’s Michael Cohen, whose office and hotel room were raided by the FBI yesterday, and who’s at the center of multiple Trump-related scandals. By some accounts, Cohen is under investigation for, among other things, possible bank fraud.

Taken together, the RNC’s finance chair, and two of its three deputy finance chairs, have been embroiled in some rather serious controversies. One has resigned in disgrace, and another appears to be facing a criminal investigation.
