The Profiles in Courage summary of the Republicans under Trump will fit on a 3 x 5 card with enough room left over to put in my grandmother's recipe for homemade apple pie.

(34,074 posts)She gave the history of the policy.
She expressed concern for the danger facing immigrant children both in their own country and in the travel to the US
She clarified the difference between the two issues that have been merged in many reports.
She called for enforcing immigration laws in humane ways.
Maybe I missed it - but I've read it tiwce. I do not see any endorsement or rationalization of the separation policy or expression of support for it.
While I fundamentally disagree with her apparent support for restricting immigration - in general - I also disagree with many people on DU becuase I do not believe the right to live and work whey you want to should be dictated by an accident of birth.
It isn't clear what the question was that she was resonding to - it appears to respond to a common confusio mingling two immigration stories that appeared at the same time.

How can a DUer not know this?

(58,874 posts)They raised the bar to a point where alomost no one qualifies. So, they are deemed, deemed illegal and have their kids taken away.

(15,317 posts)There were more claims that people were conflating and confusing things at first but almost everyone now realizes that's not the case. Anyone still spreading that crap is a troll.

(8,923 posts)Not make it more difficult for them. This is frustrating.
This is a case where I'm tired of hearing about law. If there's a problem with our law, introduce a better law, Senator. In the meantime get rid of this evil policy of separating them. No more f'ing around, FIX IT. NOW. We are Americans, not nazis.

Flake is less than useless - someone in his personal circle should stop him from tweeting his laments about the Republican Party, because he looks more feckless every time he does it and fails to oppose a Trump policy.

then: sessions announcement has caused confusion blablabla
maybe i'm just tired but i don't see that she's rationalizing trump shit
i just see her doing her same old speal of 1. here's one thing, 2. here's something else, 3. i'm concerned about this. 4. goodbye and thanks for contacting me.
she's dodging the subject rather than taking a stand on it (as usual. "blablablablabla" )
(she's an asshole. years ago she gave me a bit of false hope when she was paired up with olympia snowe. but she's just an asshole)

(58,785 posts)hard-core and extreme conservatives is all relative?
Collins has shown that, when allowed, she will sometimes disagree with the hard cores and extremists, but that just shows that those still capable of opposing destructively hard-line positions are just as corruptible as the rest.

(58,785 posts)All members of the Republican caucuses in the conservative post- New Deal era have agreed to support increasingly intense corruption as a price for being there. Susan Collins has been a Republican senator for over 15 years.
